I was salivating over a couple of widescreen models in Kromer today. It seems like the prices are actually starting to get close to the point of affordability and I think one day I'm going to make one my next tv. Two I saw were Toshiba and Panasonic.

So are there any tribers out there who have one or have any recommendations on decent entry-level displays? I'd like to get some info.

cheers,
a

ps- the vancouver-detroit game is awesome!!

I highly recommend the Panasonic models.

We (g/f & I) have a couple HDTV's (she works @ Panasonic).

We have the PT-56WX51 & CT-32HX41. Your widescreen DVD's will look excellent on them (add a nice home theatre system & you will be happy)!

Prices are definately coming down as our 56" big screen was approx 10G's last year. I think it's around 5G's now.

I've seen some flat panel widescreens that you hang on your wall like a picture: awesome.

whoa, your setup sounds sweet! what kinda beer do you guys like? I'll bring it over for the next TO game!

the Panasonic I saw was a Tau model and it was around 4g's. it looked pretty nice. There was a basketball game on but it was in regular mode (black bars on the sides). do you see that happen a lot with regular tv broadcasts?

The Toshiba was 3g's, and that's the price level with I think I might be able to handle. I'm gonna check Toshiba's and Panasonic's sites for models. I gotta say, with even the regular tv's I've been pretty impressed with how the tau's look. (btw, can your gf supply any deals? had to ask ;))

alexd - one day we're all gonna have those flat wall mount tv's... we'll do it up total recall styles!

If she didn't work there we definately wouldn't have this setup!
The whole damn house is full of Panasonic/Technics stuff.

I've never seed the black bars you described. We have regular rogers cable. We're thinking about getting a dish or digital cable, however we're hardly home so it seems like a waste.

The 32" tv we have is a Tau & is much better reception wise than the 56". The 56" is a projection.

I'll ask her if she can get any more this year. I know she has a limit to the # of products she can get annually. She's got 4 tv's this year already. If she can I don't mind doing it (she won't either)!

PM me for the prices.

My g/f's boss @ Panasonic has one. It's awesome. He has it hanging on the wall & has speakers built flush with the wall as well. Wicked setup!

funny this thread should pop up today..
after 4 hours of post System Soundbar sleep a rude awakening summons me to assemble this:

68300.jpg

60" Sony Wega Grand HDTV...
also included was a Bose 5.1 system.

Lemme say peeps.. there it has no bloddy comparison to anything I've seen before.

BTW that's Brook Burke on Wind On.. bewitching my screen.
