Have you heard of the avalanches?

Has anyone else heard of these guys?

I downloaded some of their music off audiogalaxy, and boy is it solid nice sampling and beats. holy versitile there are samples in here even my rents would love. This goes down as one of the best groups i've discovered in 2001/2002.

i was just talking about these guys this weekend -- is this the australian group which is really sample-based?
I've been meaning to check them out....downloading as we speak

It totally is. The CD is expensive, but it's one of the best of the year.

i saw the video for it this winter

and it was still annoying.

As Balzz has been so kind in pointing out, I don't own a good rip of the disc. I had a stitched together audiogalaxy version with horrible sound quality, but Balzz was a pal and burnt me a copy of the original (which he bought after I gave him the awful rip )

so, they're a very sample based group, but what is the final product like?....what genre(s) would you slot it into, at least most of the time?

is it vocal?...are they Dj's, Producers, or live artists?

how much is the Cd.

I don't dowload mp3's on this computer.....let me know what they're like, they sound good.

I've got an Avalanches Breezeblock Radio One Set from September 12/2000 - quite nice - hit me up and i can icq it to ya, otherwise, I've just started upping it to the watcher's site (big ups to that guy - Grrrrrreat Idea!!!) holy - upping at like 40 kbps - should be up in a hlaf an hour.

very sample based melodic at moments with a bit of a hip hop feel not really much to the vocals, since it is all about the samples....I don't like to catagorize or compare but for some reason a well produced princess superstar comes to mind whenever i hear them... but don't think they sound like that cause they have a style all their own...
