I am tossing around the idea of starting a treasure hunting bed & breakfast to hopefully offset some of the property tax bills. Have any of you TRIBErs ever operated a bed & breakfast?

My good friends are currently running The Old Carriage House in Stirling. I could give you my friend's contact info and say you're an acquaintance and I'm sure she could give you the scoop. Her parents actually own it but they're retiring and she's running it at the moment.

That would be awesome. I am looking for basic information on how people book and if they make people sign a rental agreement or some type of document when people stay there. I know you have to sign such things when registering at hotels, I am just wondering about BnBs...

If SA what are taxes like as a % of value? In Toronto it's about .65-.7.

I've stayed at a # of B&Bs in the UK and have just paid on departure -- no details given. I think they'll only take details if you're pre-booking, so they can charge you if you don't show up.
