when's lame-ass tech support day?

i would like for the morons here just once to call and say:

"hey! i'm not calling because i'm an idiot. there's nothing wrong with my computer, and i don't need anything done in a rush because i was too lazy to call in advance. i just wanted to say thanks for putting up with my shit and doing a bang-up job"

But that's a lot to ask for.

What I don't understand is why they changed the name from "Secretary's Day" to "Administrative Professionals Day". I think it is retarded... a secretary is a secretary and why is it that everyone has to be so politically correct??

Is the word "secretary" a rude or derogatory remark??

FUCK!!! It just pisses my off immensely.

ps. happy secretary's day!

My question though is how is that derogatory?? In my mind, now maybe I'm wrong, but the definition of a secretary is an assitant...

By definition a secretary is:
"2. A person employed to write orders, letters, dispatches, public or private papers, records, and the like; an official scribe, amanuensis, or writer; one who attends to correspondence, and transacts other business, for an association, a public body, or an individual. "

And in my mind the above definition applies to about 95% of "administrative assistants".

If the dude who picks up your garbage also drives the druck and empties it at the dump is he not still a garbage man?

hrmmmm.... where would one be able to find these "fucking" admin assistants? i don't think we have any here.

and a 'secretary' seems so 60's, 70's. sure it's just a name, but the role has changed quite significantly in the past 10-20 years. the advent of the komputar has made the standard 'answer phone, sort mail, make meetings' type doesn't really exist much anymore.

now do receptionists share this day too?

ha! that's right, because the only women that actually work (heaven forbid why they're out of the kitchen) are doing secretarial work.

I'm a financial analyst and I still got my flowers :) I don't consider myself a secratary or my boss (who got them too) or the sales reps :D

Head office just sent down a bunch of the mug 'n' flower combo's and they haned them out to anyone who doesn't drive a merc / beamer :)

i'd like to give props to ALL ADMINISTRATIVE PERSONNEL out there.

good god you guys do a lot of WORK. I share my admin assistant with another placement director, and the amount of work she has to do almost made me swoon. I try to do some of it myself coz i end up feeling bad, but sometimes it just can't be helped.

SO PROPS TO ALL OF YOU!!!!

because a secretary is the office bitch. a secretary gets coffee and runs for donuts.

if somebody asked me to get coffee i'd laugh in their face. in fact, i have.

to be a good admin in a busy office takes skills, smarts and determination. a bad or bitter admin can ruin the career of an executive. but you will notice that top admins earn $70,000 - $80,000/a because they do tons to make their manager's life simpler.

secretary is negative because it ahs the connotation of the ornatmental female who gets coffee and sucks the bosses dick when he tells her to.

<--- project support administrator, call me a secretary and you'll be drinking your steak through a straw.

So then... are secretaries left out of "Administrative Professionals Day"?

Is there a seperate day for secretaries? Or do they get lumped into A.P. day?

Pete
