If I were to buy a Tri-band GSM phone in Asia, could I bring that back here and sign up with Rogers? Anyone anyone?

Who's lock codes, what lock codes? I think over there, you can just buy a phone and sign up with whom ever you like, there is none of this phone ownership type idea we have here in NA. I could be wrong though.

There are programming lock codes. That's why you can't get a cell phone on Telus, Bell, etc and take it to another wireless company. You need the programming lock codes in order to program the phone. Without these, the phone can't be activated.

In asia the is no locked phone situation. It will be good to double check, but they have nveer done it before. Also make sure that it is a tri band phone as well if you intend to use it all over the world.

That's what I thought, so that is my plan, pickup a Tri-band to use pretty much anywhere in the world.

no he will not.

you mention telus and bell, well, of course their phones need programming cuz they're on the north american standard of CDMA...

GSM phones, that are tri band and world phones, and as such, operate the same way, on any GSM network on the planet....

he won't need any lock codes if he buys a GSM phone from over seas....

chances are it isn't locked to a network, especially when you just buy a phone by itself.

to use it here - just go to Fido/Rogers and buy a SIM with a plan for $20. pop in the SIM card and away you go

Indeed. The camera is just a novelty...I love bluetooth though. I got it for really cheap too...Rogers is nice to people who spend $400/mth. :D

But then I would have a mac. And I would kill myself. Slowly. So it wouldn't be better. Except for people who wish I were dead.

it's a brick with a crappy interface.

The P900 is fixed up, better casing, improved OS and the 2nd generation...

You could be thinking about the p800
