'Green' Non-Profit Organizations

I'm working on a research project for work where I am investigating potentially partner with 'green' non-profit organizations. We are trying to promote energy efficiency in the private sector and believe the non-profit sector has done a much better job and I am looking for tips on good strategy.

Could you guys help me start my research by telling me the names of such organizations you are familiar with.

They could even be for profit, but they have to be ones that have a Canadian presence, have a good website and are relatively good at driving traffic to their website. If they have a focus on the promotion of energy efficiency that would be ideal.

Ones that i have started researching are:

Clean Air Foundation
David Suzuki Foundation
WWF

Zero Footprint

CaGBC - Canadian Green Building Council. they are responsible for giving the approval on LEED (Leadership in Environmental and Engineering Design) building projects and retrofits. if you have any questions regarding this, PM me and i can help you out.

Bullfrog Power, suppliers of 'green' power.

not exactly sure if this is what you are looking for - but if it is, hope it helps.

I would avoid organizations like David Suzuki, WWF and Sierra Club as they are lobby groups and probably not what you are looking for in a partner to promote energy efficiency in the private sector.

In 2006, the Vancouver Aquarium took its exhibits, programming and educational facilities to the next level with the opening of Aquaquest - the Marilyn Blusson Learning Centre. This 52,000-square foot green building includes two new classrooms, a wet lab, a brand new interactive gallery, an expanded children's play-learning area and an environmental newsroom. Designed to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Design) Gold standards, some of the building's green features include low-flush toilets, a living green wall (the first in the city), roof rainwater collection and energy efficient heating and cooling.

The Aquarium's committment to conservation doesn't end with the building itself--it constantly looks for ways to green its operations. All furniture in Aquaquest was donated by ecological company Herman Miller, the Aquarium cafe uses biodegradable plates, cups, napkins and cutlery, and the Aquarium Gift Shop sources eco-friendly items and recycles its packaging, too

Thanks guys!

If anyone else has anything, however small or obscure let me know (the smaller ones have some of the most innovative strategies)...

One of my profs started Offsetters... www.offsetters.ca

What an awesome site dstarr! Offsetters is exactly the type of website I was looking for. They seem to have a really interesting partnership with corporations , as they try to reduce the carbon footprint.
