Linkin park is fun. I dont deny the entertainment value. I just think Evanescence could be soooooooooooooo much more.

Im just partial to awesome female singers in new elements. ie Beth Gibbons in '94.

Yet further proof that "earning" a grammy can be done on name recognition alone.

Fuck Madonna and her shitty Bond song. Makes A View To A Kill by Duran Duran look like Mozart. The song was a fucking throw away from her last album

And fuck Cher and her "nouveau age electronica" bullshit. She has a lot to answer for with Believe.

Nope. The Grammy's are based on record sales.

Aside from the obligatory nod to an adult contempory critical darling.

Grammys aren't based on sales...they're voted on. The Billboard awards are purely about sales, though.

.setSETst.

It's the rock chords.. They are very similar combinations to Linkin's stuff. And the muffled h-ip-hop breakbeat for "cool" effect.

I find myself humming along. I'm okay as long as I don't actually hear any of the lyrics. *shudder*

Except this song with Kelli Ali doing back-up:

This is my December
This is my time of the year
This is my December
This is all so clear
This is my December
This is my snow covered home
This is my December
This is me alone

And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all
The things I said
To make you
Feel like that
And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all the
Things I said to you

And I give it all away
Just to have somewhere
To go to
Give it all away
To have someone
To come home to

This is my December
These are my snow covered dreams
This is me pretending
This is all I need

And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all
The things I said
To make you feel like that
And I
Just wish that
I didn't feel
Like there was
Something I missed
And I
Take back all the things
I said to you

And I give it all away
Just to have
Somewhere to go to
Give it all away
To have someone
To come home to

This is my December
This is my time of the year
This is my December
This is all so clear

And I give it all away
Just to have somewhere
To go to
Give it all away
To have someone
To come home to

And I give it all away
Just to have somewhere
To go to
Give it all away
To have someone
To come home to...

BEAUTIFUL SONG.

LOL rock chords and breakbeats are what links these two bands together? C'mon, Sunny. I can see that those elements are both there, but binding the bands together they do not do whatsoever. Both bands use straightforward power chords (there arent that many out there btw), but Evanescence really only does that in maybe 1/3 of their songs.

Linkin Park has full on rapping, two male singers going back and forthe quite a bit, a DJ, total hiphopmetalpop with no darkevil imagery.

Evanescence has one female ethereal singer and most of their songs are actually not even very raucous, if not downright not rock at all. They are very dark/evil in both image and lyrics. More gothpoprock than anything.

Other than maybe slick/modern producing, they are really not very alike at all.

Fuck - listen to the lyrics of most darker/gothy bands.

Cheeze to the max. It comes with the imagery.

I was just explaining it to someone. :)

I listened to the rest of the album and you're right. 2/3 of is is a hybrid of all kinds of other things.

It's like saying Barenaked Ladies are nothing like Corky and the Juicepigs. :p

To be honest, they sound like the stereotypical Christian band.
