20 BUCKS?!?!?
what is this, some sort of super-rave?

i think a club night should be $10, maximum.

or does goldie having his own shoes jack up his booking fee?

I'd pay $30 to see goldie on a weekday. I mean come on. the guy is pure entertainment personified.

Agreed, $20 to see Goldie is fine by me..
Especially in a small club man.
In fact I'd rather pay $20 to see him in a nice rammed venue than The Warehouse or something with a million other people there.
Sooooo looking forward to this show. :)

me too! it's just one of those things that you have to see. in my opinion..there are a couple of dj's that a person who is into drum and bass MUST MUST MUST see...and goldie is one of them.

has anyone seen him live?

I dont really agree with the must see thing... i'd go to this party to have fun, not because it is the father of d'n'b spinning.

do you rememeber "timeless"??

that turned a world onto drum and bass music and I can guarentee half of us would not be chatting on the topic had he not put out that track!

Roni Size can win awards and have millions of guest appearances, but he will never be a poster boy and universal icon like goldie...although his latest mix is a bit too late for us to Re-discover him!

he is pure legend and i'm actually getting excited about him coming back!

well then...don't go. i suspect he'll receive mixed reviews like dillinja did a few weeks ago. but in my eyes seeing goldie is equivalent to being this HUGGGGGGGGEEEE basketball fan and passing up a chance to see michael jordan play (well it's a lil too late for that but you get my drift). i'm not really comparing jordan and goldie together in terms of skill..but more for what they have each respectively done for basketball and drum and bass.

definitely not to be missed.

I have, twice... at the past 2 Metalheadz parties at WMC in Miami. The first year (2000), he spun a very well mixed KILLER of a set, and I must say I was mad impressed. The crowd was going off all night as well... good times. Last year he played a more average set, but that could have been because it was my 6th night of partying in a row and he played at about 4am... I was tired as hell. But he was definitely cool that night, he was cruising around the club, dancing and talking with people. He actually came up to me and my friends early in the night and thanked us for coming and asked if we were having a good time. Seems like a nice enough guy, even though he takes enough flak from people for being a dnb superstar.

I don't think I'll be able to check out this event though, cause it's the same day I get back from WMC 2002... but no worries, assuming the Metalheadz party is on I'll be seeing him down there. :)

word. Goldie has had a massive impact on me. I respect him for whatever he does...if he wants to act then let him act...i hate when people call him a sellout cuz he wants to act.

:) wasn't he Russian in that Bond flick?

i think the $20 until 12 thing is stupid. make it $20 at any time. you know you're gonna hit capacity early, so i say just leave it at $20. i'm worried that you'll do what every other club does and hold the line around 11:30. as much as i want to see goldie, i'm not sure if i feel like standing in line for hours just so that the i can find out they were holding the line. please do the nice thing and make it $20 all night and have more door people searching. i think it's a better idea to get people in the door faster.

i don't really mean to sound bitchy, but i've been fucked over by this before 12 crap way too often to appreciate it. if you do it to get people to come early and you make a large attempt to get people in the door faster, then that's cool, but everyone here knows that the before midnight rule is usually used as a cash grab. i hope that i'm jumping to the wrong conclusions. please convince me that i'm wrong.

A small caveat for all you emptors...

Not all great d'n'b producers are necessarily good DJ's.

)EIB( can produce great tracks, but as DJ's they could be pedestrian at best. When the Vinyl Syndicate held a party at the Docks Boxing Day 2K, Fresh and Maldini did an ordinary set that was redeemed by our local MC's. Call me picky, but I believe that DJ's should do more than mix, match and spin.

What the hell... I'll be there. Bo!
