Gluten sensitivity

I don’t like Gluten filled foods, especially thick pizza crusts, I prefer thinner crust or whole grains.

I also prefer whole grain breads

For sub sandwiches I prefer whole wheat buns, I believe Subway is the worst for gluten

I am fine with rice and corn

Some people say gluten free diets is a fad, but I don’t think so

Whole wheat buns would be the worst for gluten.

Wheat gluten. Hello?

Why would subway be worse off than anywhere else? Their breads are made with flour just like every other bread.

You need to read up more on what gluten is, it seems

It sounds to me like you have an aversion to white bread as opposed to a gluten sensitivity.

If you're going to research gluten sensitivities, wiki's probably not the most reliable source (anyone can alter the information displayed).

What is the point of this thread?

It's a thread about gluten, and gluten sensitivity

"Gluten (from Latin gluten, "glue") is a protein composite found in foods processed from wheat and related grain species, including barley and rye. Gluten gives elasticity to dough, helping it rise and keep its shape and often gives the final product a chewy texture."

Although I hear people talk about gluten allergies and insensitivity way too much when stats show that really only a small number of people actually have celiac disease and unless they've had a doctor tests themselves, I feel like it's a lot of dribble drabble.

A lot of people seem to have a "something" these days, and I would tend to agree with you. Just don't eat crap, and don't eat things that don't feel right, and don't feel the need to call it something.

I do have a few friends (3) who have Celiac disease. It's not fun and I totally understand their need to avoid gluten, but this fad has got to stop. I've another few friends who are convinced gluten is the bane in their life (without testing0, and have eradicated gluten. When they have gluten again, their stomach protests (which is usual as gluten can be hard to digest and if you stop your body has difficulty kicking it in again) and this is even more reason (in their mind) that gluten is evil.

I have IBS, and I can't tell you how many ppl have told me I have Celiac (despite the fact that I never have issues after eating bread or wheat products). It's usually items that have a hot sauce, too spicy, too much grease, or I am stressed. Trying telling them that and they ignore that because it is Celiac. Despite tha fact that I had a massive pasta dish the night before and am fine.

I think that many of us have diets that are very high in carbs, with much of these carbs containing gluten. From my personal experience, a high gluten diet added stress to my digestive system.

Now, I eat about 40-50% protein and the rest is split between carbs and fats. Many of my carbs now come from my oatmeal in the morning and some sort of bean or legume at lunch and or dinner.

I feel great now.

I totally agree with you guys (Mofo, NemIsis and Erika).. years ago Gluten free never existed and now it's everywhere. I seriously did think I had an issue with Gluten as well but it was just the foods i was eating. If you eat a healthy diet and not FAST FOOD or crap then you will be fine. I try to buy my fruit/veggies in organic and I read labels. There is so much shit pumped into fruits/veggies more so now then when our parents were growing up that people now are becoming sensitive to a lot of foods.. i.e nuts.

Companies now market products as gluten free as a selling point.
This fad does need to stop. It's really annoying.

I follow Adam Van Koeverden on Twitter and he joked about Gluten a few months ago. He said 'my stomach hurts, I think it's the gluten' lol

oh and if you know me, then you know i have a huge addiction to bread. I eat it all the time.. and it's not the expensive 'gluten free' , 'organic'.. or any other types of bread out there.. it's the sliced bread. I don't think I could ever go gluten free. I like to enjoy my meals. Gluten free bread supposedly tastes like garbage. I also don't believe in dieting.
People just need to learn to eat healthy and not buy into gimmick/fad diets that ppl try to sell you.
