"girls with guitars, dont make rock stars"

this is the thread to celebrate those women who defy this line (a quote by aspiring indie songwriter/singer/musician kaytee bodle's "girls with guitars")
they're inspiring
they are curageous
hard working
their words, melodies, voices, and emotion touch us.
some, in ways no male musician can.

props going out to women who make music with no compromises.

and i wish her insight
to battle love's blindness
straight from the milk of human kindness
a safe place for all
the pieces that shatter
learn to pretend there's more than love that matters

i said love will come to you
hoping just because i spoke the words
that they're true
that if i offered up a crystal ball and looked through
where there's now one
there will be two

yay granola!

shakira is not to be judged on a song which was mainly used to get attention of north american media
besides, the english trabnslation (which i believe was done by gloria estefan, dear god) is terrible! it makes her looks like a floozy.

if you were to listen to her older stuff and read the lyrics in her words then you woudl see that she is more than ass & titties

thank you for destroying one of the purposes of this thread.

bah....

some lyrics, the ones that i was listening to and prompted me to start this thread...

lodestar

out of the night, into the water
we push the boat from shore
breaking the air and the stillness of the bay

intensity of stars reflected in the harbour
silently ignite
the oar dips into oil like water
and we are away

your hand won't write
not tonight
but your mind may wander
into those deep lagoons that you know
and your boat will go by starlight alone
da da da da da da da da
you sang to the moon
in the great black night
with no lodestar in sight

out of the night
out of the water
we pull the boat back to shore
breathe in the air and the stillness of the bay
intensity of stars reflected in the water
silently ignite
the oar dips into oil like water
and we are away

under the moon in the great black night
with no lodestar in sight

and wait for it
there are only two things now
this great black night
and the fireglow

and listen! the darkness rings
the darkness....

listen! the darkness rings

and wait for it
there are only two of us now
this great black night, scooped out
and this fireglow

listen! the darkness rings
the darkness...
listen! the darkness rings
take off your things

and listen!
the darkness rings
