Hippie was actually derived to mean

Help
In
Producing
Peaceful
Individual
Existence

Im pretty sure the word originated in the late 60's in the Keny Keysey and the merry pranksters scene during the acid tests with the grateful dead when they were still called mother mcrees uptown jug band

why not, maybe you've just got a face that people like to punch. I know I went though a short phase like that in my life. Grades 4-12 roughly.

this was actually the first time i've been punched in about 14 years - i don't really attract violence.
guy didn't have much of an arm though - no bruise today, and i can't even remember which side of my face he hit.

and to those who think i should have gotten into it with him: if someone is psycho enough to hit a stranger, i'm not going to gamble that they're not psycho enough to be carrying a weapon.

no.

hippy was a put down for posers, and they later adopted it, possibly unaware that it was meant to mock them.

He's right.... it was just too much fun... we couldn't help ourselves.

the real sucker punch was getting pulled into someone else's drama... it's nice to be kind and help someone out, but chances are it was a bad situation well before it involved you sadly.

sorry to hear that happened to you.

hope you're ok and the woman in question gets out of that situation as well.

what is it with hippy parties that somehow attracts the crazies?

I've been to plenty of hippie parties and never had a similar event happen, so I think perhaps you are the one who attracts the crazies.

that's where the crazy comes from.

Didn't the beatniks originally hang with Ken Kesey while he was teaching and experimenting? Or is that William Burroughs?

all hippies are good at is smoking weed and smelling bad.
i've met a few hippiecrites and impostafaris. not all hippies are open and accepting of ideas that make them feel scared or uncomfortable.

sorry to hear that happened to you benjamin...but was she worth it? ;)

I'd be a hippy but I'm far to lazy to go out and buy the clothes and get all the products to make me legit. That and I think Yoga is basically just stretching and that crystals hold no metaphysical graffiti of any kind.

I've been to plenty of hippy parties and thought it was strange that they care so much about eating organic and saving the environment but fill their heads full of chemicals...

karma for calling it a hippie party maybe? ;)

LOL, you're probably right.

for the record, it wasn't really a hippy party, but i did see a few folks that i only usually see at hippy artsy techno parties, and the vibe seemed so mellow that this really surprised me.

i can't even remember what the girl looked like - she was white, possibly blond, and apparently cute enough for me to be willing to pretend that i knew her.
the guy was a 30ish asian dude, and had a pretty weak right hook - barely hurt at the time, and felt nothing the next day.

i wonder if they let him back in? the organiser i originally told about it was dealing with him with the bouncer, but i decided to leave when some girl (possibly another organiser) came down and decided to stick her nose in the middle, thinking that i was picking a fight with him. figured it wasn't worth my time to see it escalate, so i went home.

I think this shit is going around right now. There seems to be a high number of these thug types around the city now. I don't know who really goes for the rapist vibe, but these guys apparently don't care.

I got punched at the Drake not long ago, and two weeks later some hippy with drums physically threatened a friend who was DJing a set there (both completely unprovoked incidents). That other time was just because my friend didn't want drums during his set and the hippy dude got all hurt and angry....

...and vengeful...

What's with these people? Who lets them out in the morning? Don't they have handlers?

i've seen two friends get attacked by randoms at the drake this year.

i suspect that the massive amount of cocaine in the city (and at the drake) may be inspiring much of this behaviour.

if there is one thing Scarface taught us, it's that excessive cocaine use does not lead to violent behaviour in any way shape or form
