Gearheads, this is the coolest thing I've seen in a while!

The surface one from midiman. It's sort of like having 9 Kaoss pads, 16 knobs, and some buttons in a formation that makes it easy to play. Plus each of the strips transmits data for left/right, up/down, and pressure. So, you could potentially be controlling 27 aspects of a sound simultanously! Talk about expressive sound design capabilities. Would make an awsome live gigging tool too. I want one! :)

I think it's probably pretty tough, being a pro peice of gear. I heard they were going to list for $200 US, but upon further investigation I've found that the price will be closer to $800 :(

It's tools like these that open the normally rigid world of electronic compositon to a significatly higher level of human expressivness.

I saw the most amazing machine this past US thanksgiving in NYC! It was on the wall display (but you could play with it) right beside the roland mc505. This machine blew everything else (groovebox wise) in the store away! .... however being as stupid as I am I didn't write down what it was and I don't even remember who made it. I know for a fact that it only came out after this past summer and before US thanksgiving. Who has made a new groove box recently? Help, it's been bugging me since the week after I saw it.

Was it the Emu XL7? I think it's probably the best 'groovebox' on the market right now. Blows all that MC tripe from roland out of the water.
