Alex, I understand your frustrations, but come on... was it really "hell" and "sheer agony" to have to wait an hour or two to get your bike unlocked? You make it sound like you were gagged and bound and someone was prying off your fingernails one by one for 7 days straight.
And suggesting that a real emergency (like a stabbing, heart attack, or lost child) might have illicted the same non-response is a ludicrous stretch and a half, IMO.
You and Dave are both important members of awesome communities that have done great things for Toronto for years. Don't let this stupid little incident result in villifying of Promise and their parties. Be bigger than that and move on.

Well I had to be across town to shoot Sunnyside, and was prevented from doing that. As well, whenever people are prevented from going anywhere and are trapped they tend to get angry. Granted I could have left my expensive ride locked up to the $50 herpes sore of a supercycle attached to it by the retarded hippie and caught a cab, but I have a funny feeling my bike would have been gone when I came back for it in the a.m.
I have boiled it down to this: I have been incredibly supportive of what Dave & Irving have done with Cherry Beach and put the weight of TRIBE behind to support them when they needed it it most - and supported them in a lot of ways they aren't even aware of too. Because a) I like them b) I liked what they were trying to do c) I enjoyed the events myself.
What is disheartening is that the one time I needed and asked for something from them it was not forthcoming. It was not a lot I asked them for either, and it would have cost them nothing to do. I guess that is what upset me most.
Perhaps it was a mistake on their part? Or maybe it is indicative of shift of some kind in the karma. I dunno. The episode over and done with it now, water under the bridge. I happily have Betty Jo (my bike) back. I am going to go for a long ride in the sun.

Alex gives them so much free publicity - that is a huge favor right there ! whatever happened to "you scratch my back, I scratch your back" It is also called common courtesy which i have seen, not on just this occasion several other where promise lacks this. Maybe a good humbling is just what they need.

Made an unexpected stop at Cherry Beach after going to the Hot & Spicy Food Festival. Beautiful weather, chill spot and good beats finished a great weekend. I heard A Skillz's full set. While not exactly revolutionary (combine old school hip hop samples, mix in James Brwon era funk, bigger rhythms and voila!) the man makes great dance music. Very nice. I left soon after because, as I said, it was an unexpected stop and I had become unprepared: no food, blanket, or beer for me. Had to get home to refuel for the week ahead. Too bad. Looks like I missed a jam.
