For anyone that knows, can this laptop perform well as a music-production laptop? (ie. reason 2.5, acid 4.0, soundforge 6.0, etc.)

I'm having all sorts of problems finding a laptop that's powerful enough, yet still cost-efficient....

Cuz that's what i'd be using it for...

This laptop will run all of your programs just fine... However you may want to see if you are able to add ram, another 512 might come in handy if you become a little more serious about it (not that you would need it now).

i run cubase sx, reason 2.5 sound forge and a whole bunch of VSTs installed on it... everythin works perfectly, its not the ram that u need to add really... but ull need a good soundcard..just like for any other computer ur plannin on producing music with
ill have to uninstall alll the stuff from the computer..but i can show u that it works perfectly before i do that

yeah my only complaint about my toshiba laptop has been the sound card.
but then again you'd need to upgrade anyway on allmost all computers if you're doing serious music work.

I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that your soundcard requirements are often determined by how you choose to work.

If you're doing all your production work in software i.e. you do everything soley in Reason or using VST instruments then a high end sound card isn't as important as the sound never actually leaves your computer except when you're listening to the final output.

A good soundcard may be a requirement if you're using the card to (a) sample or (b) connect/work with other external audio devices.
