Freq Nasty @ Fever

What a fuckin' killer party!
I have to say that Freq Nasty's set was one of, if not the greatest breaks set I've ever heard!!
The man was all over the spectrum. He started with some very rough, dark breaks and through the night he dipped into everything from acid to funk to borderline jungle.
He even mixed in the Chemical Brothers' "Under the Influence" and Moby's "Go"!!
Easily in my top 5 sets of the year...and that's saying a lot seeing that I'm not the hugest breaks fan.
Respect to the promoters for finally bringing in this great talent!
Someone should bring him back soon!

And of course good to see H-Town runnin' it again. It almost felt like the old days at Fever.

dude, i have been waiting for 3 long ass years to see that guy, and he did not dissapoint - that chem bros/moby mix was freaking killah - he put on a great show, can't wait for his next visit back.
shout out to the honey blunt krew (house room and parking lot styles). Much respect for the hamilton crew for bringing this talent - its about time the freqy one touched down in canada - and he pulled a perfect landing!!!! (when will tipper be here......)
only pet peeve - no ins and outs, but what can ya do????????
time to sleep.
awesome night.

Freq Nasty definitely was up to my expectations!
Definitely not for the light-hearted, he dropped so hard tunes but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Big ups to him for dropping classics like Moby's "Go" and Joey Beltram's "Energy Flash."

Anyone know what that tune was with the "Dido" vocals? Definitely my fav tune dropped by the Freq tonite.
He definitely rocked the house, would love to see him play again.

Peace

I agree, although I have to say that Chu, Saddler and Switch did a mighty fine job also. It was great to see most of the TO crew out in Hamitown. Wickked nite.

FORGET TORONTO BREAKS PARTIES; hamilton is the place to go.

increasingly i find myself unimpressed with breaks all together. but a little while back i went out to hamilton to see dj hyper. i didn't really want to go, but i thought that i'd show some support. i was absolutely blown away by dj hyper, so when this party was announced, i thought i'd check it out to see if if that great set could be repeated.

the first hour or so of freq nasty's set was off and on. he had some great songs, but some of them were pretty weak. they just seemed to be stuck in the rut that a lot of jungle tunes are; trying to sound hard, and not enough effort to make them sound good. but as i said, half of the tracks were great. by the mid point of his set, he started to throw down some uk garage. this is where i started to be a little more interested. the last half of the set was pure gold. so many different sounds; hard tunes, funky tunes, some uk garage and some damn entertaining remixes. all i have to say is that "whoop there is it" made my day. that was worth the $15 cover for sure.

he just couldn't do any wrong by the end of his set. his mixing got better as he went along, his tracks just got better and better. i'm totally impressed once again.

so if you're a breaks fan, i suggest that you start making the trip out to hamilton to check out these parties at fever. or if you're not a breaks fan, i still suggest you make the trip out to see this.

keep bringing down producers, and i'll keep coming.

one thing that needs to be improved for next time is that there should be an open bar.

Tipper's been here already. New Years Eve 95/96. It was an amazing set.

I must say that Freq Nasty was wicked last night. Pure energy for 2+ hours. Well worth the $15 cover.

Oh, and big up the hypocrisy crew... I saw you all. You know who you are... all you people that keep saying to me, "I don't like Nu-School breaks"... I saw you all dancing your asses off all night.

i take it that i'm involved in that cru. i'm the biggest hater of nu school, but ya, i liked his set last nite. i wasn't doing too much dancing though. i tried to off and on, but i reallize that i don't really remember how to dance anymore, so i just shuffle around the dance floor a bit.

DAMN!! I wish i could have been here for that one - still, in all honesty, that was like 5 years ago, he has to make a return (that is, if his fear of flying doesn't prevent him) - he was in Van City on the 22 of august this year - he was available, but no one here picked him up - one of the sickest scratchers I have ever heard!!!!!

i know what you mean. every time out seems like you have to learn from scratch. you spend the first half hour trying to remember how to move your legs and arms while still keeping the beat.

back to the original topic:

HAMILTON RULES>

thanks again for the great show guys.

Freq Nasty puts the FREQ in FREQY!!!

Another winner for the Hammer.

Tribe wont let me post....so I am using my brothers...
Last night killed, just like the tequila did before I even left my house. Big up Freq Nasty and his Princess Laya style dreads too. His track selection only got better as the night progressed, definitely diverse. From funk to garage to dark n' hard to enlightening to old styles. The new freestylers track - yes!!! When he dropped Aquasky's 777 after the funny break plump dj's remix near the end of his set, I had no choice but to go off the hook. I am so glad to see a new breaks sound going off well in Ontario. I hope nights like last night are only a sign of things to come. Breakbeats are the god of all electronic music.
As far as the honey blunts go, we can only hope to partake in such festivities once again. Thanks to all that put up with my drunken rambling and hassling for free drinks (b-girl_bitch, selecta, chris)
Next party I'm gettin FreQ-Y! Good to see the support and I hope to only see more headz at fever in the future, last night was almost a perfect 10!
My 2 cents...
