seriously give meditation a shot stirry

the whole point of it is learning to control that inner dialogue

fundamentally it's nothing pretentious

just directing your focus to your breathing instead of anything else

Yup, that inner dialogue just goes and goes if left unchecked. It took me a while to get a handle on meditation, but man it is rewarding.

my inner dialogue has become a non-concern now that i have started experiencing weird visuals/sensations whenever i close my eyes and try to sleep. it's usually like a spinning sorta feeling, and if i fight hard enough i can make it stop, but if i fight TOO hard then it just feels like it's going in the opposite direction.

i swear to god i am not insane.

:(

What I've always found remarkable about it , given our modern proclivity for finding technical or pharmaceutical solutions, is the simple yet physiologically sound basis for how it induces relaxation

Drawing breath in creates tension in the muscles of the chest i.e. diaphragm

Holding it for a moment sustains that tension

When you exhale, that relieves the tension acquired

If you're seated and relaxed the net effect is that over time you feel as though you're quite literally "breathing out" tension/stress/etc., and not needing any implements (i.e. drugs) whatsoever to do it

Just using hardware you're already equipped with

That in itself is quite remarkable in its simple effectiveness

I hear yah deep.. I used to practice meditation and I was always pleased with the results, however I've found myself avoiding it lately out of sheer lazyness (or reluctance maybe).
As I mentioned though, the source of a lot of my stress is that I don't directly try to eliminate them through actually doing something about them. I'm actually thinking of one particular stress atm, but won't get into it here.

I tried to get the best of both worlds the other night by meditating while stoned.

I was definitely relaxed..you know, like when I meditate sober, but hungrier and somewhat more fascinated by the inside of my eyelids.

If it was herb, you were practicing a form of Rastafarianism.

Hahaha, me too. It's funny that the mind can convince us that something so simple & easy and that delivers such positive results can and should be avoided.

Yeah, it's kinda weird...you tend to think of it (and other stress management techniques) as downtime (i.e. I don't have the time to sit around navel gazing) but it's anything but wasted time...

Weed/booze is not an option. Weed makes me paranoid and i already am an alcoholic .

Get cancer, learn to meditate and what really matters in life then you will never have that problem again. Worked for me at least .

Keep a journal! Put your thoughts on paper, sleep on it, look at it in the morning, and you'll sort everything out in no time. You're going to have to deal with it, putting it on paper makes it easy/easier!
