Flyer Collections

Remember the days of flyer collecting? When you kept nice ones from parties that you particularily enjoyed...or just cause you liked the design...

I used to have a collection, but I threw them away when I was depressed and "done" with the scene. And now I just feel like flyers are garbage after the party.

Does anybody still collect/have collections?

Ming.

i am reminded of a question i was going to ask:

does anyone have the flyer for Destiny 16 (Oct 1996)? that was the first party i ever went to, and i can't recall who all was there.

if someone has it and could scan it and send me a JPEG/PNG/GIF i'd be happy as a clam.

Best flyer designs that I see these days are usually for:

-Milk : simple, elegant, but very eye-catching
-RnB : always really expensive colour printing on unusual cut-out and folded designs, with expensive textured paper
-Clean : I only have two flyers from these guys, but they're tiny ziploc baggies with goodies inside. Clean.grind had coffee beans and a small booklet, and Clean.fun had a colouring boolet with a crayon inside to colour with

I still have most of my flyers and they're in a drawer, but I still like having them. I keep them because of the memories, but also because of the different designs and characters some of them have.
I just picked up a really good book called 'Searching for the perfect beat' and it's all about North American rave flyer desings starting from 1990. Because I am studying graphic arts, anything related to design, especially flyers, are like candy for me!

I used to collect them, now I don't even have copies of the flyers I did anymore.

1" by 1" the Toga flyers were the smallest ones ever

The our first Groove Disciples party we used green acitate and printed the flyers as a photo negative so you had to look through them or they just looked dark green

I put the flyer of every party I go to up on my wall. Only real parties though, not just club nights.
The flyer can't go up if I didn't go.

It's like my certificate of survival.

Yup. That's what I'm talking about. I used to do that too. But then I stopped partying and thought it was over. And threw away everything....

no. This book doesn't have ALL the flyers that ever came out in North America, there are just TOO many. It's just many from the states and a handful (mostly Dose parties) from canada. It's a really good book, but not the bible!
