just finally bought a 360 yesterday and picked up this game

i loved fight night round 2 and played the hell out of it and 3 is soooooooo much better and the graphics are bloody amazing in HD.

......

however, there is something disturbing in this game...

should i hire this guy as my trainer,.... seriously... should i??

That would be an eggnormous mistake.

I have the PS2 version downloading. I hear the career mode is pretty phat this year, and they (finally) made the haymakers less devastating.

What the rass did they do to this game? It looks like they took 10000 steps backwards from the second one. The graphics look like absolute shit, the soundtrack is somehow even more annoying and even less appropriate, and the gameplay is at a snail's pace. The AI is also garbage.

Round Two was miles better in almost every aspect.

your mistake is playing it on the ps2.

Maybe so, but I would expect that the graphics would AT LEAST be as good as the last one (which were pretty damn good for the ps2).

And I don't see what the platform has to do with the AI or the soundtrack.

Just picked up this game yesterday for 360 and it is amazing. The graphics are unreal. The slow-motion matrix style replay of knockouts gets a bit choppy, but the game is still lovely.

Can't wait to start playing online and beating the shit out of people. I think this game has great online potential. If you are an xbox live user and care for a fight or a round of halo 2 add Ben Hadoken.

the soundtrack sucks because it's hip hop.. i turned it off ASAP

but from what youve said, i can tell you really havent played the game that long.

the ai is very good once you put some time into it and get up into the *higher ranks.

as for the game being slowed down, i like it. It's not a haymaker spamfest anymore like 2 was. Now actually being a technical boxer pays off.

also that you can mix and match basic styles (power, speed, ballanced) with certian types of punching styles, and of course the 2 different blocking methods.

there's lots of depth in this game, to me it sounds like you just downloaded it and tossed it aside....

but really there's only 1 system to play this on, and it's the 360... i looked at the xbox 1 version of it, and youre absolutely right... it looks no better than round 2 did.

the one thing i miss in round 3, is having the custom intros you could buy to boost your stats...oh well.

i accept your challenge!!!

i only have a light heavy custom character so far, havent really played a lot of the real boxers so i dont know em that well.

Ive only played about 6 guys in the career mode.. haven't done any online play.

My guy is a welter weight and looks a little bit like me.

Admittedly, the character creation tool is pretty good. IT'S JUST NOT ANY DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST ONE.
There's reason to this rhyme.

Imagine down the road... you've got a character creator built into your xbox console... So for any game that welcomes the new format.. say... a "Uber character" that resides on your dashboard which can be used it a whole variety of games.... centralize the character then use the same one in 6 different titles.

how cool would that be?

It would definitely be cool (and I think a likely interface might be something along the lines of the Eyetoy for ps2), and I wish I could believe that was their motivation, but based on what they did with the ps2 versions, I think a much more likely explanation is sheer laziness.

Am I the only one that struggles with the weight lifting training part. I feel like i'm taking crazy pills. Everything else I dominate, got any tips?

Weightlifting is fucking harrd... I've havd a nice rythm going, but the minute i fuck it up i can't get close to finished ever again.

i've never come closer than having about 4 red bars left.. which is pretty fucking narrow to score.

grrr..

i have no problem breaking 100k in any of the mini games.

they are identicle to the ones from round 2.

i usually only mess up once or twice in weightlifting, same with the simon says combo dummy.

Okay, I'm digging it more now. I really do like the gameplay enhancements (esp. being able to change styles and things on the fly) even though I'm still wondering about the presentation elements that I mentioned before. Plus it seems counterintuitive that I don't have access to the ranking system.

One thing though -- I heard you can do pre-fight interviews and 'rivalries'. I just won the Burger King trophy (?!) and I haven't had either one yet. Do you only get them when you're going for the title?

Also, I have to say that this is the most blatantly commercial game since Need For Speed Underground 2! I guess it's an EA thing, but wow, I hired the stupid King guy as my trainer, but he wasn't in the ring with me! wtf!

I'm gonna pick it up today. Might not get much chance to play it until later, though - it's 24 Night.

i was playing some music in the background (had the sound on the xbox off) and i ended up fighting that bleached white kid that ive beat up 50 times before in some championship fight... but there was a little cut scene of this weigh in, and then a couple punches were thrown and it went into the stun KO first person view when i got a cheap shot... i was wondering wtf was goin on.

pretty cool thing though.

and yea the game is brutally shilling out advertisements.

the king just escorts you to the ring and that's about it.. bumps up your heart statistic, although i dont know how much. Ill check out gamefags.com er gamefaqs ;)

Shnikes. Tried a little online action yesterday and got owned. People on there already have records of 200+ fights wtf?

Judging from the small amount I have played, it looks like I have to learn to use the total punch control config. I usually use the button config, but these special wind up punches you can do with manual control are way too effective to not use.

Bah, up the curve I go, I hope it's not too steep, I'm really used to the buttons. Anybody know if you can make private games? I wanna play some tribers, but couldn't tell how to invite people etc.. online.

But yeah, there are some peeps online with craaazy game. I would consider myself decent too. Love the parry.
