2)Not interested in the topic and clicked on the thread only because you want to make fun of the participants.


It is people of the latter category that this thread is addressed to. If a thread is flourishing and people find it interesting, it is not your role to dictate what should and what shouldnt be posted/read. Leave the thread and dont come back to it if it does not interest you. It doesnt matter what the thread is about as long as it inspires people to answer and arouses discussion. Moreover, if you have a problem with a certain tendency of tribers to post threads that relate to: pick one or more: DRAMA|SEX|SCIENCE|PICTURES|INSERT_YOUR_OWN.. then simply start threads that YOU would like to talk about. If you did try to start conversations about such topics yet no one seemed to share your interest in them, maybe it's time to find a message board with a more narrowly aligned topic.

I, therefore, propose to keep in mind the following guidelines:

- If thread flourishes, do not post disapproving comments regarding its content. Ignore it and post a thread you would like to talk about instead.

- Only useless threads that do not inspire discussion deserve hijacking. If people find a thread interesting and discussion arises, please do not distract them from the main theme.

- Do not post useless threads that are NOT informative | inspire discussion | funny (vague concept, sould be polished) | contain pictures of beautiful lesbian girls

I speak of no one in particular. Moreover i am also guilty of the very same thing against which i protest in this thread. I merely wish people to try to be slightly more objective.

like really...its been said before some people think they've started some wonderful topic leading to days and days of interesting thought provoking discussion. sometimes those people are wrong. if it is a strong enough subject it will thrive and flourish for a while and even withstand a barrage of asinine comments, pictures, conversations blaa blaaa blaa and if it doesn't well then it wasn't that interesting to begin with. of course there are threads were any person with a sense of decency will not be a jackass ie.. the wtc events, the jamaican boy who was abused to the poin of death. it's a messageboard, deal with it.

No, that thread wasnt meant to live in the first place. I was the 1st one to inform him about it on icq.. i did it rather harshly and then i apologized for it inside the thread.

Why post asinine comments in the first place? People are talking of things that interest them, leave them be! Go find a thread of your own. If no one seemes to be interested in the topic only then you are allowed to abuse/hijack/make fun of the thread.

You are talking about a fresh thread. I was talking about threads that already have content.

As for your case: If it has just been posted you can wait to see if people respond adequately. As simple as that.

i used to whine and bitch about how this message board has deteriorated. i haven't done that in awhile.

probably because:

a) i've realized it's just a message board
b) couldn't really care less. (apathy is a beautiful thing.)

and

c) kind of feel like you're all a cast of characters from that show they have on the internet. i call it "that tribe show". all of you are distinct and independant characters, melodrama is prevelant, more often than not the outcome includes sexy results and occasionally there's some worthwhile content. (i.e. i laughed, i cried, a post affected the way i look at reality or really made me think.) i even have an affinity for characters that might not neccessarily be popular, like pest. each and every one adds to the diversity of what i read...(and for some threads the sentiment "i can't believe i read the whole thing!" is applicable.) I can choose to know exactly as little or as much as i want to about each of your lives, (from what sexual positions you prefer, to what you had for dinner,) just as i have the capacity to choose the information i want to reveal.

i'll continue to post disapproving comments occasionally though, dammit...because it's my perogative to have an opinion. and if it weren't for the unique perspectives of the various individuals here, "that tribe show" would be a very boring place.
