I'm surprised no one's mentioned I Want YOu To Want Me by Propaghandi since we were talking about it on here a couple o f days ago.

WTF. That reminds me of those John Sakamoto Anti-Hitlist "vs." songs he always recommends.

Ani and Jackie... wierd... cool....

I have a Velvet Acid Christ cover of Material Girl in my mp3s. It's fun.

I love Tori covers. All of em except the Neil Young.

I hate it when great songs by great artists are covered by crappy artists who are popular enough that ill-informed people think they are the song's originators. Examples include Downtown Train by Tom Waits (NOT by Rod Stewart) Because the Night and Rock N Roll Nigger by Patti Smith not by Chrissie Hynde and Marilyn Manson, respectively.

Alright, alright, neither the Pretenders nor Marilyn Manson is deserving of the adjective 'crappy.' I just think Patti deserves more love!

punk bands have certainly gotten a lot of mileage out of 'whimsical covers' I wonder when the novelty will wear off.

my favorite: millencolin (i think i spelled that wrong)- the israelites (original by demonds dekker- i think)

I have a whole album of punk covers of cheezy 70's songs like Leaving on a Jet Plane and what not. Some are good, others are terrible but the supposed irony has some value I guess.

Speaking of cheesey punk covers (which I love) I think it's lagwagon--it might be someone else--does a cover of Hit Me With Your Best Shot and at the end it trails off into the band screaming "Hit me Patty Patty Patty Patty!" It cracks me up.

I would also like to express apprection for Beatles covers--covers by the beatles, not of the beatles--specifically Roll Over Beethoven. I love that shit.

more weird covers:

nothing compares 2 u - mike patton/faith no more/mr. bungle (i cant tell) (prince cover)

glorybox - mike patton/faith no more/mr. bungle (i cant tell) (portishead cover)

ive only heard live versions, and the quality of the recordings leaves much to be desired.

i think i may only like them for the novelty of hearing mike patton say hes just wants to be a woman.

Wow kat, I need to get downloading I've never heard of those!

There's a cover of Public Image Limited's This Is Not A Love Song that I'm trying to think who it's by....it's a woman I think.... anyone know?
