it is said that fasting for 24 hours can boost your immune system by up to 25%

anyone ever fasted?

what is involved? what can you / cant you eat?

what are alternatives to seriously boosting my immune system?

whats part of your routine daily/weekly in this regard? (if any)

if you dont have one, why not?

I have done fasting before. I have not eaten for 2 days, I only drank water.

There are all kinds of fasting stuff, depending on what you are trying to achieve.

when i was fasting i got sick all teh time..probably b.c when i wasn't fasting i wasn't eating much of anything..i have fasted for sevarl weeks at a time.

well ther's juice fasting and water fasting.

i persoanlly think there are some benefits to juice fasting, esp if you have a juicer (rather than using storebought juices)

Depends on how hardcore fasting you want to go.

There's some that allow no food/water for the duration of the period, though most people who fast usually intake water nowadays.

My goal with fasting is to do a detox sort of thing in January.

I have been going out too much lately, doing too many drugs for my liking, and I would like to slow the fuck down, and clean the fuck up, cuz I dont like it.

So I turn to fasting. Will: I don't know how exactly it helps. Maybe by not eating shit?

theres a difference. first off, why "unintentionally"? how does that work? second, when Im going to fast or do some sort of de-tox, im going to do it with mind and body, not just body.

I have done all of the above for a personal reason.

I too do this. Especially Fridays...I don't each much, go home, crack a beer and it's all downhill from there...I don't eat. Not on purpose, it's just alcomeehol fills me up nicely.:)

well a detox i think is a good thing. if you plan on juice fasting for a few days, then only eating 'whole food's for a period of time..i thnk that that is a good thing.


don't forget to take some kind of herbal laxitive to 'clean out' before you fast.

tea fasting is also good. i'm sure there's some recipes available on the web. certain teas are great for detoxing the body, so this would be used to detox during your fast.


i've done a 30 hour fast a few times. never made me feel too crappy, just a little tired. it's good for you though. clears out your system...makes your pee run clear.

Ok let me re-state.

Currenltly Im kind of sick. However, long-term I would like to not be as sick, or not get as sick as I get.

As a result, at 26, I feel its time to 1. clean myself up and 2. set up some sort of regular (be it monthly, yearly etc) plan or plan of action to remain healthy.

So, what kind of multis do you take? Im on the not - so - regular vitamin C habit... only when I get sick (too little too late)

do you make some sort of shakes int he morning?

jake, why not stop going out for a bit, stop doing drugs, stop drinking, do a few bikram yoga classes, eat alot of fruit. should clean you right up!

yes i belive a ginger tea and cayenne fast is supposed to be good.
