first of all the sky lounge is a really nice venue for parties. lots of room to dance, lots of chill space......the party took a turn for the worst when they announced the party was shutting down early, like 1am early! everyone was freaked and a whole slew of people left. but a while later we were told the party was staying open and asked everyone for donations. even the djs were spinning for free. i thought that was really awesome.

props to f3 and ALL the djs for keeping the party alive.

anyways, i'm sure this thread will be littered with bashing f3 tomorrow, but i had a good time dammit!

not really sure how the fuck you can give F3 props for closing their party early and for not being able to pay their dj's once again
thefinger.gif

oh well, I guess it really isn't that surprising since this is the 3rd F3 party where they didn't have enough money to pay for their djs....

i don't know.......i think they made the best of a bad situation. and hey- closing down at 5am is way fucking better than 1am! i think it sucks that they couldn't pay the djs, cuz they all deserved it BUT it was very cool that they were still willing to spin without cash. that just shows their respect for the scene. very cool. so yes- PROPS to the djs!!!

and i really enjoyed the double dose of frisky! i'm soooo glad he's back!

so give 'em a break. throwing parties isn't an easy task. whatever.........

I you can't pull it off, you shouldn't try to throw parties. Everyone and their autistic uncle is a "promoter" nowadays, which has diluted the quality of smaller to mid-size parties.

Fuck F3!!! c'mon everybody with me......
yup well just got home from last nite (finally) and well all i have to say, is that it was a good nite 'n all, but FUCK F3.
Just like spinsugar mentioned, massive BIg ups goes to all the dj's. Bo! bo! Bo!
When they announced that they were going to close this party down @ 1am i almost freeked, i would have wanted some of my $20 back!!
They still should havejust handed out 20's as we were leaving.

Now wtf were those chicks problems (the ones running around asking for "donations")
When i told them i had NO MONEY i mean it.
Good garsh....

anywhoos oh and now to the thug, oh! i mean
"tug"
They dbl booked this venue (which is a wikkid place, and oh so close/15 min
smile.gif
)
and so there was our party and then another hip hop show
So when their hhop show ended they(tugs) all decided to waltz up in our room, so all of us ravers were in the pit dancing, and them all on the higher level watching us, throwing ash trays @ us! and just plain being rude, and wanting to start shit up FOR NO GODDAMNED REASON!!!! uhhhh the frustration!
i know a few people who got teafed @ THIS party! scary shit....
well peese for now, id like to see some others comments.

peese & respekt

Hey everyone.
This is sort of a statement from both Kellan and myself. After last nights events, we feel we have a lot of explaining to do as to what exactly happened. First of all – I would like to thank all the DJs who came out and supported us through the tough night. I have never before dealt with people who were so caring and understanding, but showed comrarity through out the whole night. Also, I want to give a big thank you to those who helped us through out the night. You knew exactly what type of situation both myself and Kellan were put in – and it wasn't exactly how we thought it was going to turn out. A few people in particular come to mind : Rob (Phreak), Santa Mike, Sean (Email) and Jeff (MDK). Thank you SO much – we seriously are indebt to you. Now, what exactly happened that night. Things didn't quite turn out the way as expected. We had been planning this party for the longest time – but sometimes things just don't work out. A lot of things can be said about the causes: no advanced tickets, flyers out late, venue in the middle of Etobicoke, bad management of the venue….but nothing can be changed now. As for the management of the Sky Lounge, we felt we were put in a very precarious position. For starters, they double booked the venue with a hip hop jam on the other side. When we first arrived at the venue, the owner has no idea we were coming. He also later informed us that the next two weeks were booked with the same hip hop jam. Fair enough, but we had a contract for that room. Instead of having the whole party cancelled at the last minute – we neogiated with the promoters of the hip hop jam and the venue that we would get one half, and they would get another. It was a piss off – but their was nothing that we could do at that moment in time. Also – a little while before the party starts HALF the security guards hadn't even showed up yet. By the time the party started – we got only six security guards out of the tweleve we were promised. Then – they decide to inform us that anyone who goes to the hip hop jam is allowed inside our party – to make numbers look better. We were both against this because we didn't want people getting robbed or beaten up. Thankfully, they were kept out for awhile but not the entire night. We tried our best. Then the guy who booked us for the venue informs us he wants his money but 1am – or the house lights are going on and the sound will be shut down. We tried to keep our cool and come up with all the money we could. After offering them all the money we had left (a little over $1000 for venue, and $600 for security) and offering to shut the party down early (although we really didn't want to – but it was in order to save costs) – they still threatened us to come up with ANOTHER $1000 in thirty minutes or else feel the repercussions. Now – I would like to say, coming up with $1000 in thirty minutes is probably less than impossible unless you are a drug dealer or have been keeping money tucked away in your bank account for a rainy day. We tried our best as a company to keep everything together, and make sure, you – the partiers were safe. As for us running out of DJs, we called all the DJs who were playing earlier that morning and told them not even to bother showing up just for the fact that we wouldn't be able to pay them – nor did we think that they would be able to play. Infact this was not the case. We were told by the management at Sky Lounge to round our DJs who would play for free together and tell them to keep playing until they wanted to close down. Unfortunatly, we just didn't want to keep fighting with them – so we just agreed. Anyways, we felt so terrible for everything that had happened that night. To everyone who helped make this night happen and helped us through the low points – we are forever in debt to you. I think this is one of the times where we really needed our friends and you banded together to really make this time better for us. Also, to all the DJs who spun for free, you know how much it meant to us and you know we will do anything to make it up to you. Finally, to all the partiers who did come and show their support through everything: our love goes out to you. You are what makes this company tick and you are what makes this company function. Without you – we wouldn't be F3 and although it is going to take us a LONG time to bounce back – eventually we will. I hope this clears up all questions you had about the night – and if you really need to talk to either Kellan or myself… email us at f3_productions@hotmail.com All questions will be answered and don't be shy. We are totally owning up to the mistakes we make and are willing to face them. Again, thank you all for coming out to 2 Legit 2 Quit and making it a most memorable evening for us all.

Once again it has been proven that children should not throw parties.

Plain and simple.

If there is any evidence of that, f3 has proved it time and time again.

The Snazzy:

Nice venue! Sky Lounge is quite the sweet little place tucked away in Etobicoke. More promoters should look at this place as a venue. Capacity of about 1200, its semi carpeted and has multiple floors in the one main room. Sound system was alright, although they need to get some tech’s working back there to fine tune that machine.

The bartenders were sex on a stick. Oh let me tell ya, we all had some fun with that plump pair.

19+, beer was cheap, friendly security the overall venue was kickass. Wouldn’t hesitate to travel back there again for a party.

The Ugly:

No advance tickets? Cheap or just laziness? Please, it only costs 100 bucks to print out tickets.

Their main headliner, DJ FX from Scotland was a no-show. Well shouldn’t even be labeled a no-show when the promoters cant come up with the cash to pay for his flight.

XOTEC from Rochester drove up here, found out there was no way of being paid, then left. Do we see a trend yet?

Justrich flew HIMSELF in, from out West, to spin for the f3 crew under the assumption that he would be given a ticket to get home. Was there enough money for him to get back? Or is he still stranded in Toronto?

The donation bucket was going around once again. I think its becoming a bit of a tradition for them.

At 12:30ish it was announced that the party would be shutdown early. (I don’t think anyone was really that shocked) But that’s okay, every partier was promised a magical blue ticket good for something at their next party? OH A FREE GLOWSTICK! LOOK AT ME LAUGHING NOW!

At 1:30 after saying my goodbyes I said ‘adios’ to f3 for the last time with a vow never to return again.

To any other children wishing to start up a promotion company out there, don’t do it. People don’t want shitty parties, and im pretty sure you don’t want to loose your life savings in a matter of 12 hours.

f3 has had their times. Some events were right on the mark, however most were severely under populated, the budget always seemed to run over what could actually be paid. And every party, so many DJ’s were left unpaid.

Its sad. Its over. Give it up.

The trumpets have sounded the last call on f3. Everyone salute and say their goodbyes to this sad little excuse for a company.

Wow...rough...

Regardless of what anyone says, i dont wish anyone losing money like that...some of the things that happened last night was the promoters fault, but at the same time, some of it was things out of their control.

But it all comes down to the fact that if you dont have the money, you shouldnt throw a party. Youre just asking for trouble there.

Good luck to f3 in the future, and i hope they find a way to bounce back, and i hope they find away to get the respect of their peers back. Most importantly for them though, i hope they somehow gain the respect of the partiers back...

Sorry if we asked you more than once but your gwaning like we were non stop harrasing you, which in fact we werent.

We did give the money to f3 even if it was a little.

What exactly do you mean by your comment?

so typical of people in this lovely rave scene to point out the short commings of others.. how about most of you try and do something for the love like i know kellan and ama do and not for the money..

and as to the dj's getting paid thing.. i never expect money to spin.. im just glad i get the opportunity to do so.. djing is a hobby.. not a career

i love ama, kellan and mike and everyone involved.. im sorry this happend to you.

shame on the rest of you

Shift and all, asking for donations would have nothing but a negative impact on the company in hand even if it was for good intentions, when a company looses money-they loose money. We lost a fair amount on Spunright, but I could never do that- besides, unless Donald Trump was there- a small donation would be pointless. But I guess its the thought that counts..

Secondly, Djs should be paid in advance, it should be a part of a promoters budget, otherwise dont throw the party. All too ften, the djs are the one's that loose out if a promoter starts to loose money. Having the djs paid in advance at least guarantee's that if you need someone to spin for you - maybe throw a smaller party to recover money you lost- like we will have to do- Some of the guys will you a break- I know I would.

F3 is a company among a group of companies that throw awesome 'small scale' parties, and it really does suck that they lost out this time, But im sure they will recover- nobody should be saying they died- its a company thats it- F3 wont die..maybe go away for a while..

Even the mighty Lifeforce has suffered MASSIVE financial loses, *ever notice why the sound systems at the last few events @ the CNE were shyte, with gameboy lights * everyone cuts corners-- just pay the djs!

oh yaa.. i forgot to mention. the 2 headlining dj's did get paid. the sound guy did get taken care of. they did not make djs spin for free, they asked them to. and they did not send people around to collect donations as saffron already said.

but really.. what is this scene about if everyone is all About The Money?
