Hey everyone.
This is sort of a statement from both Kellan and myself. After last nights events, we feel we have a lot of explaining to do as to what exactly happened. First of all – I would like to thank all the DJs who came out and supported us through the tough night. I have never before dealt with people who were so caring and understanding, but showed comrarity through out the whole night. Also, I want to give a big thank you to those who helped us through out the night. You knew exactly what type of situation both myself and Kellan were put in – and it wasn't exactly how we thought it was going to turn out. A few people in particular come to mind : Rob (Phreak), Santa Mike, Sean (Email) and Jeff (MDK). Thank you SO much – we seriously are indebt to you. Now, what exactly happened that night. Things didn't quite turn out the way as expected. We had been planning this party for the longest time – but sometimes things just don't work out. A lot of things can be said about the causes: no advanced tickets, flyers out late, venue in the middle of Etobicoke, bad management of the venue….but nothing can be changed now. As for the management of the Sky Lounge, we felt we were put in a very precarious position. For starters, they double booked the venue with a hip hop jam on the other side. When we first arrived at the venue, the owner has no idea we were coming. He also later informed us that the next two weeks were booked with the same hip hop jam. Fair enough, but we had a contract for that room. Instead of having the whole party cancelled at the last minute – we neogiated with the promoters of the hip hop jam and the venue that we would get one half, and they would get another. It was a piss off – but their was nothing that we could do at that moment in time. Also – a little while before the party starts HALF the security guards hadn't even showed up yet. By the time the party started – we got only six security guards out of the tweleve we were promised. Then – they decide to inform us that anyone who goes to the hip hop jam is allowed inside our party – to make numbers look better. We were both against this because we didn't want people getting robbed or beaten up. Thankfully, they were kept out for awhile but not the entire night. We tried our best. Then the guy who booked us for the venue informs us he wants his money but 1am – or the house lights are going on and the sound will be shut down. We tried to keep our cool and come up with all the money we could. After offering them all the money we had left (a little over $1000 for venue, and $600 for security) and offering to shut the party down early (although we really didn't want to – but it was in order to save costs) – they still threatened us to come up with ANOTHER $1000 in thirty minutes or else feel the repercussions. Now – I would like to say, coming up with $1000 in thirty minutes is probably less than impossible unless you are a drug dealer or have been keeping money tucked away in your bank account for a rainy day. We tried our best as a company to keep everything together, and make sure, you – the partiers were safe. As for us running out of DJs, we called all the DJs who were playing earlier that morning and told them not even to bother showing up just for the fact that we wouldn't be able to pay them – nor did we think that they would be able to play. Infact this was not the case. We were told by the management at Sky Lounge to round our DJs who would play for free together and tell them to keep playing until they wanted to close down. Unfortunatly, we just didn't want to keep fighting with them – so we just agreed. Anyways, we felt so terrible for everything that had happened that night. To everyone who helped make this night happen and helped us through the low points – we are forever in debt to you. I think this is one of the times where we really needed our friends and you banded together to really make this time better for us. Also, to all the DJs who spun for free, you know how much it meant to us and you know we will do anything to make it up to you. Finally, to all the partiers who did come and show their support through everything: our love goes out to you. You are what makes this company tick and you are what makes this company function. Without you – we wouldn't be F3 and although it is going to take us a LONG time to bounce back – eventually we will. I hope this clears up all questions you had about the night – and if you really need to talk to either Kellan or myself… email us at f3_productions@hotmail.com All questions will be answered and don't be shy. We are totally owning up to the mistakes we make and are willing to face them. Again, thank you all for coming out to 2 Legit 2 Quit and making it a most memorable evening for us all.
