and even if you find the phonetic sounds there, theres no gaurantee its going to make sense or be a real word.

plus, your shirt may not be in katakana, maybe hiragana, or kanji.

katakana is mostly used for translating english words into japanaese phonetically, or as short form for writing kanji on computer and such.
to my understsanding.
