I have to say that that track was also the highlight of the night for me. I have no idea what it is.

The last bit of Danny Howells' set was the best part of the night for me, music-wise.

I actually think this was the first time i had negative comments about a party... a remarkable achievement on behalf of guv's management.

I am with you there...

All you people that are complianing that it is too packed should have known it was going to be like that before you went in. That party was totally what I expected and I loved the fact that it was packed and hot as hell.

dude, all I'm saying is (and I think some other comments echo this as well) that this was beyond packed. it was downright dangerous. the line was crossed probably about 2000 people ago.

all it took would have been one big fight, one person getting seriously hurt, or something like a fire to completely turn the event and the scene on its ear.

it's a bad idea to dismiss this lightly beause the danger was real.

cheers,
a

have to agree.. although I had fun, it was way too crowded for my liking... Too drunk to handle that many people. :p

Although I had no interest in the other rooms, I'm glad I stayed outside the whole night at Skybar.. I would have died in the other rooms.

definately my last "big" party...

nice to meet you anyway Lori ;)

we should have expected not safe environments? what the hell is that? having to LIE outright to get a breath of fresh air is not right...seeing people pass out around me is not cool, and having sweat from gross g'd out mongrols all over is definately not happening...I can't believe some don't see this as an issue...
I didn't pay $35 to deal with fucking bullshit all night.

also, the downside to the party being so overpacked resulted in a lot of the traffic being closed off.

I ended up missing both Andy C and Freeland. Therefore, i didn't even come close to getting my moneys worth.

Raverguy, are you sure that list is right? If my memory serves me correctly, im like 95% sure andy C dropped both planet dust and shake it.. but neither are on your list.

Actually, JP used to do it from memory, but I know his secret now.

If you were looking for a big party that is run well, try going to the 514/cream party at the molson centre in Montreal, lots of room to dance, lots of water, great visuals, excellent sound..the works.

I actually had a wicked time, just stayed in the kool haus away from the crowds in the guv...only once at like 10:30 did we brave it over to the other side, and after getting stuck in a tunnel for 10 minutes and getting lost in a crowd we decided not to go back...

Danny Howells fucking rules, I'm not the biggest fan of progressive but love watching him play...he plays dope music, is tight as hell and actually looks like he's having fun while he's up there...

The set-up in the kool haus was rad too, i loved how the stage was up in the middle, something different in the least...

My only complaint was how Deep dish kept turning the volume up, especially the fucking high's...there were points i thought my ear drums were just going to burst...i kinda wish they would have recognized that half the crowd had to cover there ears on the "buildups"...

Other than that though, pretty wicked night, especially with the ppl we went with...the best part for me was seeing so many ppl still hanging around at the end, usually Toronto parties just die after 5am...overall a good party...i just wish there was better throughways between the rooms...if there was I would love it if the complex had monthly parties...

Although you could see this one being packed a mile off, I don't think anyone could have expected it to have been this bad. I think all reason had been abandoned by the ownership of Guvt/Kool Haus by trying to ram this many people into that kind of space. I mean they easily would have made good money on half the people that were there but no good is not enough - stuffing people in until they get trampled and pass out equals more money. I think greed can be blamed for the absolutely horrible disregard for people's well-being on this night. I've been to much bigger, much better parties in the UK and Europe and they were organized so well and the partiers were definitely kept in mind with the design of the event. Clearly this is still a long way from happening here. Yeah Benson & Hedges sponsors the event and throws the money in to get their product pushed but it is entirely up to the club how the event is handled. From what I could see, they spent far too much time paying off the proper officials so that the event didn't get shut down instead of designing this event properly and limiting the number of people. No way this event should have been allowed to go ahead - they broke every rule in the book! Fire, building, safety - you name it, they broke it. I worried for my own safety and that of my friends most of the night - shame the ownership of Guvt didn't. How could you possibly enjoy the night when you don't know if you're going to get crushed by a bunch of shirtless muscleheads who are to g'ed out to know their head from their ass? (like theres a difference)

Having been to other Goldclub events (Docks w/ Bad Boy Bill), they were great, not overpacked or poorly ventilated. Again it comes back to the age-old problem with Guvt and its blatent disregard for its patrons. I agree with earlier posts that say not to attend future events here and to let Goldclub know how dissatisified you were with the experience. Continuing to go to their events and support shady clubs like Guvt does nothing. I only wish there were some other good events happening that night - maybe it would have offset the number of people. I hope next year there are some alternatives to this so-called "Labor of Love" event - god could that be a bigger oxymoron?

On a side note, anyone know the track that Deep Dish dropped near the end of the night - it had the sample "darkness falls across the land" (or something like that) They played it right before Depeche Mode's "Freelove" remix. Any info would be great.

Peace,

Trigger

I bootlegged a set once, and it came out sounding like total shit so never bothered again. :D

But yes that list is 100% correct. Like Dr. Grinch said, both tunes were dropped by Marcus right before the President. Besides, I don't think Andy C ever drops 'Shake It' anymore, and he's relegated 'Planet Dust' into a teaser.

Is the back of a pack of smokes and a pen such a big secret Derek? ;)

And got one for Marcus?

Refer to post above. :)

Sorry, I usually only have enough room on the back of my smokes for the headliner's setlist. :D

I went and man it was way too packed
I was totally pissed that The Guvernment has a blatant disreguard for a door policy, and completely ignores Fire regulations.
Any monkey would have known it was too packed in there.

So, after much searching I've found this:
http://www.agco.on.ca/pdf/Non-Forms/Winter '00 - LL.pdf

It clearly shows a bar on PAGE 2 being charged for overcrowding and premitting narcotics on the premises.

It appears that the AGCO (Alcohol & Gaming Commision of Ontario; formally the LCBO - Liquor Control Board of Ontario) is the governing body that we could call attention to.

While having the email address of The Guvernment's publicist is handy,
ShelleyWilson
Strategic Marketing Manager/ Public Relations
Shelley@theguvernment.com Ext. 230

I think an email from us, letting them know that we've contacted the AGCO regarding their door policy might get a little more action.
Check PAGE 3...it's a whole page dedicated to Plans and capacities of a licensed premises

I'll definately be looking more into this.

I don't want to close them down; they've been bringing awesome talent. But not at the expense of turning me into some sardine.
