What a wikkid wikkid party is all I gotta say! I was aching for the breakz to come on at 1am...........but i was sooooooo amazed and absolutely in love with dj swamp's talent! Wow! I've been waiting to get a chance to see him- and wow! lived up to my expectations and then some.

I danced my ass off to all the breakz, most dj's were playing a little on the darker side lastnight, but still full with maximum energy. Thanx to CHU who brought some funky breakz - at that point- I needed it! I also really enjoyed The Reflex Crew. Wikkid traxx! Near the beg. sounded a little more on the nuschool breakz side, but then hit to the wikkid sounds of the UKG nearing the end.

Oh how I miss these parties! I had such an incredible night! WIkkid ppl.- wikkid night!

Got there at 1. Missed swamp

Seen him many times before so wasn't too upset. That place was fekkin rammed. Breaks room was less rammed and was a nice place to cool off. Roc Raida was not exactly at the top of his game... Some nice tracks... but rating last nights set against the other times I've seen him... He gets a 4/10.

Missed Jojo to hear Madame Mercury and J-red. Both were good, not mindblowingly so... but good nonetheless. Went back to hear Mampi... Sound system wasn't able to handle his type of mixing. He spun a pretty dope set though despite numerous skippings of the needle. Some new with the old which is something I always like to hear.

MCing was not as bothersome last night... they were maintaining a minimal but effective presence. Which is how it should be.

Arsonists were a no show. No one's fault. To be honest I've seen them before and they are good, but nothing to get your panties in a bunch, over missing. I just kept waiting for them to drop some serious ish after the first LP... and they never did.

All in all dope party. I remember back in the day when they used to stick the jungle room off to the side. It always seemed like the bastard child no one understood or really cared about. But through hard work and perseverance ehyting's comin tagether. It's movin on up weezy.

Now the breaks room is that little bastard child... things are lookin up

Maximum respect to Ruckus and Empire for putting together a party that actually appealed to me enough to get me off my lazy ass. It's not often a party can do that anymore.

Nuff love goes out to all the T-Dot Junglist soljahs it's nice to see that name front and centre on so many quality events now. Rich, Clancy, John, Tack... and everyone else... I always knew you guys would bring things to a next level. I'm truly glad to see you guys takin off, gettin your name out and representin the T-Dot Propa like. Much sucess for the future.

Yeah, Swamp was hella dope last night. I even got one of the records that he broke while doing some INSANE shit. That was the highlight of the night.

All I have to say is that Marcus is my new favorite breaks dj. I haven't really heard a breaks set in awhile that really blew me away. It was also the first time that I heard a new school breaks set done properly. I figure it has something to do with Marcus' jungle background that really gives him insight into how to create a good new school mix. It was too bad that I couldn't stay till the end to see him spin 2-step.

Swamp was really good too, he played some really cool tracks and had some good tricks. I just think that he should forget his rapping bit. It was alright, but obviously his strength is turn-tablism.

My first toronto party in a long time and overall I had a good time.

Marcus didn't spin any nu skool so to speak. He was spinning garage breaks that had a new skool flavor... just in terms of basslines and so on. What you were hearing was marcus spinning 2-step breaks. Lots of those have really nu skoolesque basslines now, so they do sound quite alike. But ya he's good at what he does regardless of what kind of music it is

Well ... this was my first "rave" party in alomst a year
So I didn't exactly know what to expect
And on top of that I've lost touch with jungle lately as well
I wasn't all that excited that it was going to at the Docks
But I always like to try to make the best of the situation and not let the venue ruin my night
Got there around 10:30 just to catch the end of Ruckus' set
It was pretty good ... but nothing that special
I probablly would have enjoyed it more if I had recoginzed more of the tracks that he dropped
Up next was Marcus and he tore shit up!
In all the years I've been partying Marcus has never disappointed me once
Played a nice mix of new and old which had put a smile on my face
DJ Swamp stepped up to the decks after Marcus and all what I can say is HOLY SHIT
Swamp was a mad man
He definately made the night for me
My jaw hit the floor the second he hopped on the decks and stayed there until he finished his set
The guy is a pure rock star and knows exactly how to hype a crowd
Getting the mic caught in the globe hanging above the stage was a plus ... especially after he admited to the crowd it wasn't the smartest idea
Once Swamp was done I wandered into the back room to catch the end of Mystical VS Everfresh
Once again nothing special ... but that has a lot to do with my lack of intrest in jungle
D-Monic was up after that
And what can I say ... he definately tore shit up ... dropping some of the biggest tracks of the year
Which seemed to have the crowd pretty hyped
Highlights of his set had to be What's My Name, Killa Brew and Humanoid
The main reason why I ended up going to the party, Madame Mercury, was up after D-Monic
However ... she ended up being a bit of a disappointment
Her mixing was on and she threw down some sweet tracks ... but her set just lacked that extra punch that I need to get me dancing
Once she finished off I decided to go check out Roc Raida ... who ended up being a little bit of a disappointment as well
So I decided to head home after about 15 minutes of his set
It was a good party ... but nothing to amazing
I had a pretty fun night ... I saw some friends that I haven't seen in a while and heard some sweet tunes
Props to the Empire crew for pulling it off

A dollar a minute put to good use for DJ Swamps 30 min set.
This was my first time seeing him spin and he blew me away!

Now for the rest of the night I spent my night in the breaks room as the jungle room was way too jammed for me to be able to get into the music and dance but from popping in and out of the room the crowd was into it as were the djs and Roc Raida put on a good show.

The breaks room was much roomier and cooler.
I enjoyed both Madame Mercury and J Red's sets. I was hoping d-monic would have been more funkier which he did start to lean to towards the end of his set.
Overall it was a good night of dancing!

(I really liked being able to see on the screens in the breaks room what was going on in the main room!)

That was pure jokes!
I remember looking up at the screen a couple times and they were showing the crowd and everyone looked so bored that I started to laugh

So I step inside the place(please... no more docks in the future) and I think to myself...Whut??? 1)Jungle in both rooms. Score! 2)Boys. I don't mean to sound like a pre-pubescent boycrazy teenybopper but there were alot of good looking fellas inside. Maybe it was because I was already drunk before leaving for this party(thank god for the short line-up). So when I got inside, it was really a 'three year' for me because I saw the old Forest Heights crew I met and partied with 3yrs ago and I spent a little bit of time in the bar with them. Parties are always better when you see old faces from the past.
Anyhow, I really wanted to see the Arsonists just because I have never seen them before and of course when things seem just rite, they never are. I am mad that people would show such disrespect and go on their bus and steal shit. What is wrong with people these days? They are not my most favourite hip hop group, but it would have been nice to finally see them in action, instead of hearing that they were filling out a police report. Atleast I saw Swamp in action. Omigosh, I always downplayed him for other turntablist legendaries like Q-bert and Roc Raida, but he has a great stage presence that the "behind the back tricks" of other turntablists seem like nothing compared to this guy. Swamp's looks are quirky and when you see him spin he sure as hell is. His rapping is not spectacular, but it surprised me he even had enough guts to grab a mic.
Well, I was glad to see the jungle massive in full effect but I surprisingly didn't go to this party for jungle, which is usually why I come out in the first place. Roc Raida had a good set, not amazing though but always a treat to see him. Turntablism finally representing at a party. Thanks Empire. As for Jungle, Mampi was kickin' with the old and new, but I wasn't doing my usual spastic dances that would take me through the night...maybe I was just too tired and felt more for socializing instead of dancing(Note: there was no room for dancing anyways). Jo Jo Rock was ok too, but I kept on going back and forth between rooms so I never got the full effect of that set. Also,I missed J-red who I wanted to catch. Oh well, I saw the last half of Madame Mercury's set and she was fun. I surprisingly danced as much to breaks as to Jungle. Maybe because there was actual space in the breaks room. I don't want to complain about the coat check line, because that is no ones fault...but that lady with the annoying voice who kept on yelling "next!" deserved a pimp slap in the face especially being that irritable. All in all, I have to give Empire (3 years strong) props for throwing this.

It was my B-day party and what a B-day party it was!! Wikkid Nite! I was in the 19+ room till Swamp came on....
Swamp BLEW ME AWAY!! He's gotta be one of the dopest DMC/Turntablists to date. Even though he won the DMC in 94-95(i think) He could easily win it today, He was doin tricks that i havent seen any of the more recent tablists do.
After that i ran back to the bar until 1am and then to the breaks room for the rest of the nite, D-monic played a very nice opening set for the breaks room, Solid track selection and tight mixes as always. Thanx for playin 3 wise monkeys for me Dan!
Madame Mercury, It was the first time I've seen her, and i wasnt dissapointed at all, I didnt dance much, I was too busy watching her. Maybe it's just me but it's SUPER hot when a girl spins breaks and looks so comfortable behind the decks. Her Skills are Solid and track selection quite good, although she got kinda TOO florida/trancey for a bit.
J-Red was one of my favourites for a couple years now, His set was definently on for this nite. Good tracks, nice scratching, decent mixes.
Chu, Always a crowd pleaser, not much to be said here, U know him, u know how good he is. nuff said. Sorry for running away after u said u didnt have tribal base Colin.. hahaha
Marcus/reflex Kru... Fuckin AMAZING, Marcus NEVER dissapoints regardless of what he's spinning.. He really did bring the nite to a close in a proper way, PERFECT track selection and his mixes?? Yo!! It's Marcus!! When hasnt he had solid mixes?

Too many shout out's to list, You know who you are. Thanx to everyone who made Leo and myself's Birthday so enjoyable. Thanx to Empire for throwing suck a SICK party.

Well, I got inside rather early (around 10:30) and managed to hear some good 2-step thrown down by DJ's Divy and Velocity to start off my night.

DJ Swamp was definately the first set of the night to actually keep me interested. Some sick scratching and turntablist antics (along with pyrotechnics), except his rapping bit was a little on the sketchy side.
Unfortunately, the Arsonists' tour bus was broken into so they were unable to perform, so off to the breaks room I went to hear D-monic.

A couple hours passed with Madame Mercury and J-Red gracing the decks in the breaks room, but both of their sets were lacking the funkyness that I needed to stay dancing.
Unfortunately, everyone else thought the same and completely jammed themselves into the jungle room, making it impossible to move. This, as well as Shabba D randomly spitting out lyrics every chance he got, made me lose interest, until Roc Raida came on (like an hour after his set time was supposed to be) and scratched up a storm.
It's definately about time some turntablism is being represented at parties.

Chu laid down a good set, with some phat tracks and mixes, and Reflex Crew closed the night with a sweet soulful set of uk garage and 2-step breaks.

Over all, it was too packed (but being at the Docks and tickets selling out, it was kinda expected), and I wish the breaks were funkier, but fun times had none the less.
