Monday July 1st Molson Park - Barrie
3 Stages - Over 20 Bands
Nickelback
Cake
Finger Eleven
Goldfinger
Default
Sevendust
Simple Plan
Silverchair
Also Jerry Cantrell, Danny Michel, The Dears, The Full Nine, Grade, Headstrong, Melissa Auf De Maur With Hands Of Doom, Mudmen, Not By Choice, Robin Black & The Intergalactic Rock Stars and The Weekend.

A limited number of early bird tickets will be available for $32 - after they're gone it's $45

Where are the killer bands these days?

There are a couple of good canadian bands in there but what is up with Silverchair as one of the headliners!

I guess I will wait for Lollapalooza or Area 2 to get my festival band fix this summer!

Robin Black cut my hair once...

I wish I had gone to the edgefest with Blur and Ned's Atomic Dustbin back in the day... I think it was 94 or 95.

I was there!

The one before it was even better on the rotating stage @ ontario place with Neds Atomic dustbin and Radioheads first show in Canada!

WOW, I am offically jealous that you were at that show!!!

though I did see Ned's twice including their last show at the Concert Hall which is up there with my favourites.

ah, the days when CFNY was really fresh and 'cool' yet just starting to become 'mainstream' popular.

that's a ways back :) right here, right now...neds had the one awesome album, but didn't really do a whole lot later outside of some singles...kill your television was a massive track...

the year blur played edgefest @ ontario place we couldn't get tickets so spent a sunny afternoon watching great bands on the waterfall stage...gandharvas, project 9...a fun day...totally didn't realize radiohead were playing...

Yes, best live band festival I've ever been to - exhausting though!

Yep, each year Edgefest gets more expensive and shittier - its like some weird space-time anomaly.......

Though I do love Molson Park.

This may be the last summer of major concerts at Molson park, I saw on the news that the park has been sold to develpers. Since Molson closed the brewery in Barrie, they need another way to generate revenue year round.

Rock is testament to persistance. Nothing new has happened in the last 5 years easy. Boo to all that wasted media energy on a regressive culture.

although this boyband and shitty rap phenomenon is scraping the bottom of the barrel for cashing in on artistic talents.

I'm pretty sure their last show was at the Phoenix Concert Hall. The band jumped into the crowd at the end, and they had a TV being passed around which people were free to smash....it was a good show....I used to be a huge Ned's fan.

Actually Neds appeared in 91 with Toronto rockers Technicolour Raincoat opening. I'll have to dig out my binder full of concert stubs to find out where though. Radiohead also appeared in TO on their first album tour for 'Pablo Honey'. Though I totally forget the date, sometime in 93 though.

Cheers

OMG Lee, You were at that, that was like 92 or something........small world.

There was two shows right...I was at the first one.

I miss the original EdgeFest's......the original that started at Ontario Place with Tool, hHead, The Waltons.......God, and the hoopla about the Procliamers being there, it was awesome.......

That was the year Van Halen was the headliner for Canada Day at Molson Park..........that's when I boycotted the whole thing, and was all about Canadian Bands on Canada Day.

I miss the good ol' days with 54-40, Spirit of the West, The Watchmen, The Tragically Hip, and the list goes on......................

I think I'll be skipping it this year, mind you I've missed it the last three, so it's not so much of a tradition anymore. I haven't found the last few Lolapalooza's to have great line up's either.

you're probably right, they came twice for the Not Sleeping Around album and I remember that one of them was at the Concert Hall, that was probaby the first time.

both good shows tho... too bad their lable dropped them soon after.

I was *slightly* obsessed with The Waltons back in 1993 / 1994 ish.

<sheepish grin>

Peace,
