holy shit! how did i miss all those people? yikes!

anyways..i dunno about this party..it was really really hot..and there was zero ventilation..not so good over here...and just a little note..when your patrons are on the floor gasping for air, and clutching there chests..this means youre using your smoke machine TOO FUCKING MUCH!!!! this is like my biggest pet peeve..i couldnt even see what was going on half the time...grr..

anyways..i got there at around 1 i guess..to see yoji's set...it was alright..kinda "meh", however i will say he's fun to look at..pink mohawk type hair and shiny clothes..hehe...

now i have never seen mark eg before..but honestly i dont understand the hype...i felt like i was at the circus instead of a party...
climbing the speakers, stopping the music every 15 min to shout some nonsensical phrases into a mic..ripping apart a turntable? i dunno..i guess theres some entertainment value in this..but honestly..i came to listen to the music, not watch a three ring circus...but i guess it was an experience..
his set was alright...it was danceable which says soemthing atleast seening as im not the biggest fan of techno..and i was craving some trance like crazy..so i'm glad i heard some towards the end of his set...
smile.gif

thanks to everyone who made this a kickin nite..i guess the road trip crew was in semi-effect last nite..not quite buffalo..but still...

only two words can describe the music yoji spins... monkey jones. it was some of the hardest, most abrasive, unintelligible music i've heard in a long time. it's a unique style but it's definitely not the kind of hard trance/hardNRG i like. at certain points in the night it sounded like nails on a chalkboard. mark eg's techno was a bit better but at that point i was too exhausted to even bother listening.

the system at this party was way too loud. there were no decorations and no lighting. i can't believe tickets cost 30 at the door.

anyway, it was definitely fun running into so many toronto people (hellos to cheer bear, mdk, still rushing, johnny funk) and the b-list-nrg-DJ-road-trip-crew

made the night thoroughly enjoyable as one could have expected.

ya this was okay...

as stated no decorations or lightings, I guess they figured the smoke machines made up for all this. Between the lack of lights and excess of smoke it was really hard to see what was going on..

neither Mark EG or Yuji were great technical mixers but I liked both of their track selections...

high-light of the party
(according to beaker, at-at and therapist)
the ride up, listening to hhc and eating candy...

I dunno guys, I loved the entire night off!!
I played my set from 12-1, Yoji jumped on right after me and blew my mind. I can see how some people can't relate to that style muzik, but I'm pretty open minded and don't shut down any genre. He's got good technical skills, still not as good as some people I know, but he is still relatively new to the scene. His productions stand out over his Dj'ing. MarkEG once again the greatest person I know...so lively you can't help but to feed off his energy. Love that guy.
Anyhow, I'm still pretty tired from last night, time to get back to bed and take a nap....ahhhh. its 4:45pm..thanks gawd for blinds.

Cheers

The party itself was okay. The music was a little redundant and so poundy.... I don't know how else to describe it. Yoji looks pretty cool, but it was difficult to stand up front because of the damn smoke. The venue itself was really small (an arcade) so already there was poor ventilation, yet they decided to pump in some smoke with yes yes... smoke machines. And they failed to turn on the ceiling fans... smoke machines and a shitload of cigarette smoke to fill the lungs.
Yoji had some truly unique ways of mixing that I found enjoyable to listen to. He did a good job of getting the crowd into his music as it seemed as though everyone was dancing up a storm during his set. It was sad when Mark EG came on and the back half of the room emptied out.... it was so strange.
Nonetheless I have to say that I wasn't into the music too much... but that could just be me.... It just had no flow, the harmonies were so speratic and it was none-stop "noise". Just a bunch of strange sounds all put together.
30$ was too much to be charging at the door for this party.

I am just glad I met so many people (Mercury I didn't forget you
tongue.gif
)
and that I had many friends there with me.... that always makes a party that much more enjoyable....

I'm with just about everyone else on this. The venue was pretty bad, and from what I understand it's becoming London's answer to Tropicana/Stardust. Hot, bad sound quality and terrible ventilation. I used to play arcade games there on my lunch when I was in High School! But the nostalgia wore off rapidly. There wasn't any effort made to light up or decorate the venue either. Just a bare room with old arcade units lining the walls.

Yoji Biomehanika was rather interesting. His tracks were strange, good at times but definitely not throughout his set. His mixes were hit and miss, but there were no huge mistakes. I've listened to enough of his releases to not have incredibly high expectations, I just expected him to maybe play some other people's music more since his is so ecclectic. None of the melodies in any of his tracks sounded pleasant, it was more like random keys on a keyboard in the backround of extremely loud and fast pounding.

This party wasn't worth the $35 we paid to get in, but it was a fun trip to London nonetheless.

i wasnt at this party, but i just wanted to comment on the venue.
i have been to 2 parties there and i love it.

its also a crock that its been overused since they only started using it for the first time this year. its been used a total of umm......3 times to my recollection.

its not a bar, its not a banquet hall, its not a warehouse.
its different. and i know it can be kinda dark, but i think that its a great place to throw a party. it actually feels like a rave when its done properly i.e. GFX and the massive projector screens and minimal lighting.
just because frequency might not have decorated it and lit it well, doesnt mean its a shitty venue.

sorry to any toronto folks who just hear stuff from london people but as far as venues in this city go, it has the potential to be one of the best.
