E-Cigarettes

So I'm officially out of my last Blu "tobacco flavour" e-cigs I brought back from the States

Anyone who has tried a blu, can you recommend something similar I can buy up here? Not the shit fruit flavoured, the Blu had a tobacco flavouring (and nicotene, which I know you can't buy here in disposables).

Don't recommend some giant re-usable e-cig with oils that look like a lightsabre, I'm not a fan.

the blu's are perfect for me :(

Lots of convenience stores carry them, not sure if they are "Blu" brand

You really may want to reconsider your stance on the better quality reusable ones... there really is no looking back once you've got a good rig set up :)

I have found that the most well-stocked vape-cigarette shop is "Vapeshore" in South Etobicoke. It is right across the street from Long Branch loop. Totally worth the trip. You just need to take the Queen streetcar to its Western limit. It is at 3783 Lakeshore Blvd. West.
Not quite at the loop, perhaps sooner at 38th or 39th street. The Pendragons Comic store was featured in a commercial for Canadian Cheese.

May try to quit smegs for winter.... so will pop in en route home. ;)

Just ordered some 50-50 flavourless base. Gonna see if a flavourless vape is enjoyable. Inhaling artificial flavours, even if they are not diacetyl, still concerns me a bit. Plus I'm finding that flavours are killing my tastebuds for other foods. I'll let you guys know how it is.

but you're still addicted to nicotine.

yes.....that is correct, but if you are aware of the thousands of additional chemicals which are in regular cigarettes........I'm quite sure that just being addicted to nicotine is a huge step up.

As a long-time smoker who had a devil of a time quitting with nicotine aids in the last bout - kind of happy the e-smoking has caught on AFTER I quit.

Would still be a slave and likely would have been one to switch over to vaping - I have for THC anyway! The issue is I would still find it easy to have the odd smoke, and knowing the "hit" is still never going to touch what you get from those "thousands of chemicals" (let's be real - those chemicals make them FEEL AWESOME and get you your hit super quick in your blood/brain) I'm not sure if I would ever be off smokes.

You see now if someone offers me a smoke I know I would be breaking a 4 year streak of no nicotine in the shrine - but if i was vaping then there wouldn't be any "streak" to break and the tiny part of me that craves that extra hit from a true commercial cigarette would say "SURE GIVE IT TO ME!"

So the ecig is nice but I still want to get rid of that, too. I've gone a week without nicotine several times in the last two months.

My quit attempts always fail at social occasions that involve alcohol. I have no problem turning events down, but I've noticed it pisses other people off. I'm at the point where I don't care if someone is insulted if I don't attend a birthday party, etc. I honestly want to cancel Christmas and New Years so I can try again.

Really looking forward to January, oddly.

I am about to go the e-cig route too. I'm not quite ready to give up nicotine (and hundreds of not murdered people are probably happy), but I am ready to be smokeless. I'll take it from there and see where things go.

Apparently its the equipment that is the cause not the vapin itself.

Verified: formaldehyde levels found in the NEJM study were associated with dry puff conditions. An update

By Dr Farsalinos

As mentioned in my previous comment about the formaldehyde study published in NEJM, it is very important to identify which atomizer was used and what energy levels (watts) were applied to the atomizer in order to understand whether the findings were associated with overheating. As I calculated, based on the consumption reported by the authors, I considered 3.3 volts as being about 7 watts and 5 volts being 14-16 watts. It seems that I was pretty close.

According to a post on Reddit, the authors used a top-coil CE4 atomizer and an Innokin VV V3.0 battery. The Reddit user has forwarded the email response of the study author to me, so I have verified the content of the response and the equipment used (I have also sent an email myself to the authors, and I am expecting their response). My predictions in the previous comment about the overheating possibility have been completely verified, while I was quite close in my calculations about the wattage levels applied to the atomizer.

I should first mention that i have personal research experience with the use of top-coil atomizers. I tried to use a very similar top-coil atomizer in my study evaluating plasma nicotine levels from e-cigarette use. In that study, we used an EVIC battery set at 9watts. Unfortunately it was impossible for most vapers to use the top-coil atomizer and puff at their preferred conditions, due to dry puff taste which they could not withstand. Only a small minority who were taking very short puffs were able to use this atomizer at 9 watts. So, I had to change the atomizer to a bottom-coil EVOD, which worked quite well at 9 watts. In fact, the average puff duration of the participants in that study was 3.5seconds. So, the top-coil atomizer used at 9 watts became overheated at puff duration less than the 4 seconds used in the NEJM study. This is not the first time that an atomizer was proven to be insufficient and resulted in dry puff phenomenon which was immediately detected by the vapers; in our vaping topography study I specifically mentioned: “Originally our intention was to test another atomiser (“eGo-C”, Joyetech); however, some EC users experienced overheating of the atomizer and a phenomenon known as “dry-puff” (unpleasant, burning taste caused by insufficient supply of liquid to the resistance so that evaporation rate is higher than liquid supply-see the Discussion section for more details). They had to lower the puff duration and increase the inter-puff interval in order to avoid this phenomenon. In response to that, the eGo-C was substituted with “Epsilon” and participants were asked to come back for recordings with the new atomizer. All recordings with the eGo-C atomizer were discarded”. The authors of the NEJM study should have read our study and should have known about the existence of this phenomenon.

According to the Reddit post and author’s email, the atomizer had a resistance of 2.1 Ohms. This means that at 3.3 volts, the energy delivery was about 5.5 watts and at 5 volts it was 12 watts. It is more than obvious that the findings of very high levels of formaldehyde are a result of overheating. Lack of experience on e-cigarettes and no contact with vapers can result in such erroneous and unrealistic results, which can create confusion and misinformation both in the scientific community and among users and potential users of e-cigarettes. Finally, it is extremely important that every study evaluating vapor chemistry from e-cigarettes should mention in detail the equipment used.

Science: they're doing it wrong.

Right now I'm rockin a Sigelei 150 watt box mod with an Aspire Atlantis tank. The battery life is incredible and the clouds are thick and consistent. I have the unit set to fire at 25 watts and it is seriously all the power I need.

I started vaping with a Kangertech evod unit, but I just threw it in the trash a few days ago because the Sigelei device is so much better that I can't produce a satisfying puff off that Kanger anymore.

With the cheaper units, the airflow is super low and thus the clouds are small.

With the bigger units, the airflow is way better, so the hits are bigger, and my whole vaping technique changed, where I now take massive deep lung hits and blow opaque clouds which fill the room.

If you are serious about vaping.......you will need to spend a bit of money to get a decent unit with a lot of power.

The custard and dessert flavoured e-juices are awesome......particularly "Captain Oliver's"------they specialize in custard and pudding flavours. :)

^^ ya glytch , saw they were vaping at a pretty high wattage!

So study is going round with a bit of bad science journalism pushing the scarier aspects fo the study.

That said, this whole area could use more research.

I just broke down on a no-nicotine attempt an hour ago and wow, I just realize that I hate ecigs, too. The only thing worse is an analogue. For some reason the ecig still zaps my energy. I start feeling quick, light zaps of pain in the tips of my fingers.

Throwing the juice out tonight and trying no nicotine again tomorrow. I went without nicotine more days than with in January. It does get easier.

I'm considering dropping the nicotine habit completely. Now that I'm hitting the gym, I'm still finding it affects my lung capacity...or at least seems to dry 'em out. Seems like it's getting near time, after almost 3 years with the ecigs. Not like I'm really at risk of picking up the analogues ever again.

I've gotten to the two week mark without nicotine several times now. Every time I'm amazed at how much better I feel. Blood feels like it's circulating better in my fingers and toes. My mood improves and I smile more. I have way more energy. Sleep is better, too.

The only thing that really sucks is that I have to quit alcohol for a few monhts in order to quit nicotine. I'm at the point where I can easily live without the bar scene, anyway, but still. I'm planning two months of dorky no-booze activities.

Book clubs here I come...

i bought one, and it was nice at first but gave me an uncomfortable feeling in my lungs, like some kind of asthmatic reaction, it felt heavy, maybe the glycerin. it worked though, i got a good nicotine hit with it, it, but it irritated my lungs (worse than smoking) when i used it, so i gave it away.

Just picked up an Aspire Nautilus Mini tank. Great tank. Should've been using this tank from the beginning...
