careful - there are only certain bars in /downtown/ vancouver which have permits to stay open past 2am until 4am

I was pretty surprised that the laws could be different at the civic level.

The entire Europe is 24/7, I think... I mean, I know Romania is, so is France... but I could be wronge, because the laws have changes since I left Europe.

The drinking age in the US is 21 for all states. However, the time that they can serve until varies state by state.

American drinking laws look damn near impossible to look up in any simple fashion...

In Oklahoma, beer is sold in gas stations, but neither gas stations nor grocery stores may carry wine.

Vermont gas stations sell 3.2-percent beer as well as wine, which often tops 14 percent alcohol. But beer containing 3.3 percent alcohol or more is available only in state-run liquor stores.

Candy is regulated in many states if it contains even a trace of alcohol -- four states ban liqueur in candy outright. A young adult attempting to buy a Godiva Champagne truffle could get carded in 16 states.

Twenty-three states don't allow sales of spirits on Sunday; 27 do.
