Heading out tonight with a crew of about 6 peeps....looking for a decent place to do up drinks and late night food in the central downtown area. I'm not too familiar with good pubs around there....I want a chill place, with GOOD food, nothing too trashy or too "cool" ;)

recommendations please and thanks!!

I like the:

- Artful Dodger (south of Bloor, right off Yonge, across the street from a Rabba.. right around Charles, I think. Nice chill atmosphere)

- Hoops (Yonge/College, kinda trashy)

- Living Well (Yonge/Charles, wicked food!)

- Red Lion, Jarvis/Wellesley (really friendly staff, unique menu)

- South Side Louie's (College/Bathurst)

- Red Room as mentioned below is veryvery good (College/Spadina)

All a little north I suppose but what the hell..

Quiet pub with wonderful staff: Village on the Green across from Wellesley Station

Great pub for cheap booze and arty ambiance: Village Idiot, Dundas and McCaul.

A pub without a greasy pub feeling: Bedford Academy, around St. George station. WONDERFUL place.

Loud pub with lots of eye candy: Madison, Madison and Bloor.

Pub with good music but really loud music, BoHo haunt: Green Room on Brunswick, in an alley behind the Brunnie.

Its just as loud, not as dirty cousin: Red Room, at College and Spadina.
Happenin' yuppie pub with great people-watching, good prices and central area: Hemingway's at Avenue Road and Cumberland. Rooftop madness.

Gay bar with lots of fun drinks and fun staff: Zelda's, Church and Wellesley.

What would easier is to actually state:

type of music
drink prices
ambiance
area
crowd

Like if you wanted:
rock
average
laid-back
Yonge and Bloor central
arty and punk

I'd say Living Well.

If you said:
rock, punk, new wave, retro
cheap
dark and seedy but clean
downtown queen west
rock and roll wannabes and Orange County skapunk

I'd say Boving Sex Club.

If you wanted:
house, r N b
pricey
luscious and stylish
bloor line
fashion editors, models and filmmakers

I'd say Lobby at Bloor and Avenue Road.

type of music - hiphop/top 40 or (I dont know if this is possible) downtempo IDMish or housey electronica
drink prices - moderate
ambiance - relaxed
area - central downtown ( nothing too far east or west, nothing north of Bloor)
crowd - relaxed

most important though is a good late night menu!

:)

The Green Room is for high school artsy kids who wear black and smoke cigs like they wish they were addicted. The Red Room is waaaaaay better! Much better service as well, the Green Room can be really slow. On the flip side I have had lots fun at both.

Pffft. That's not what you said when we had that little soiree in your pair of Ferre jeans.

If the hand fits, wear it.

When I visited toronto the one time. Conor took me to a place called Squirrelys. A lil pub .

It wasn't to bad... kinda funky.
I liked it. Go there.

Squirrely's is the best. It's on Queen near Gypsy Co-op and seconds as a crack den.

Good beer, great mussels, lovely staff.

A hidden gem.

Yes, but it's crowded. Or at least it was last time I went. But I had a great time.

For pubs I usually go down on the Esplanade and Front Street at Church.

You have C'est what, Fionn McCool's, the Bier Market, Down One (or Under), etc.
