I guess I can see the last temptation similarities
but it's a stretch, I see more aesthetically in common with a movie like narc
I did a search and there are many reviews comparing the two.
i found this one here:

"The film also borrows some elements from The Last Temptation of Christ, as Donnie is faced with stepping back to his certain doom to save those he loves.
In many ways, The Last Temptation of Christ gives a basis to this film, only in a contemporary setting. Destruction of the false profit (Jim Cunningham) and his domicile give us flashbacks to the destruction of Sodom and Gomohhra from The Last Temptation Christ.
In many ways, Donnie takes the path of Jesus from The Last Temptation of Christ. He fights through doubts on the existence of God and he uses his knowledge to assure people that they will have a happy future. "
