two quick questions:

1) how much was the cover? did they lower it at least? (i bet not)

2) why do people think that donald glaude is still good? i saw him the last two times he came, and he sucked ass. support the locals instead of throwing away your cash on hype

Ahhh, sweet negativity ;)

The cover for the night, as listed on the flier was $15 B4 11:30 and $18 after.

About 30-40 people paid the actual cover before we recieved word from DG thathe wouldn't make it. This is a rare occurance, and also a difficult situation to deal with-
If you read the beginning of the thread, you can check out more of the details, but as soon as we were aware that Donald was not coming, signs were put up at the front door and around the club-
The cover was dropped from $18 to $10
Anyone that was on the reduced guestlist for $10 was let in for FREE~
We still had a guest DJ (Slim) in the backroom, and Deko-ze filled in the main.

The few people that had paid full price already were individually told about DG and were given the option of a refund (nobody got one) or some free drinks at the bar, and a the opportunity for a great party anyway, which it was!

I'm not exactly clear about why you don't like Donald Glaude, but if you are so curious about question #2, i suggest you go down to the next venue he plays at and ask the hundreds of people in line waiting to see him, Mr. Crankypants ;) ......

cheers!

yes, i'm cranky at times, but i think that for $18, there are better things to do with my time. as far as donald glaude is concerned, many people go to see him based on visits from years ago when he was still good. can you honestly tell me that he has the same technical skill as tim patrick, stretch & hooker or even dekoze? i didn't think so. my main concern is to warn people against believing the hype, and support djs we have here. we've got a lot of people in TO that should be travelling the world playing in all the big clubs worldwide. we should give them credit, not the washed up djs that come through town.

I hear what you are saying CC, TO has way to much underrated talent, but most weeks @ FTWK, our focus is on our local hero's->
those are the nights you can come down and show your support, no? ;)
check the upcoming events forum for updates.

I think people should not only support the local scene, but also the national scene. There are a lot of talented djs within the Canadian borders coast to coast that don't get any play at all. There's more to Canada than Czech, Lafleche, Misstress Barbara, Aquaviva, and Richie. Its really sad that we don't have any solid network to experience what we have here, even sadder that people never support the promoter's who do give the other Canadian djs exposure, our scene has become an import industry in entirety. Its good to bring in foreign talent, but it should be done in conjunction with some real national representation. I give my two thumbs up to WEMF this year despite all the griping of others.
