Totally, I'm working on building a new intranet plus doing DB admin. It's a good spot, lotsa free food, lot's of freedom.
cool. mccarthys has one of the nicest firm websites in toronto. nice gig.
Only shitty thing is the staff is moving, originally up to 69 at 1st Canadian, but now to the 4th floor just w on King. I'm gonna miss the vistas man, looking out over the lake on a clear day, or back up into the city or west as the sun's going down, it's killer up there.
i know what you mean about the view. at my old firm, i had a window on the 62nd floor of scotia plaza. first facing north, then west. now i'm on 35 at the royal bank tower, facing south. not as good a view but still pretty sweet. you get used to it so you don't even notice it after awhile though. the elevators are also pretty crazy (my ears still pop every time).
buncha people. it's a relatively small community.
at my old firm, i worked with joel scoler, ian scott, sean o'neill, articled with susan spence (shared a student office with her too) and peter goode. elana lipstein was one of our articling students. i teach once a week with francoise gilbert. pete brauti is the brother of two of my best friends from high school. richard nixon is married to one of the lawyers in my group so i've met him at functions. i've done a few deals with braham costin and doug klaasen and a bunch of the real estate/finance ppl. and bob forbes (if he's still there) was my contracts prof.
if you know joel scoler, francoise gilbert or pete brauti, please say hi for me. we practically lived at the brauti cottage in the summer (appropriately dubbed "brophstock"). pete's one of the best barefoot waterskiers in the country. (don't ask me why that popped into my head.)
and, of course, lil michelle (naomi and normie's roommate) is one of the new receptionists. she'll be looking for you tomorrow.
