Does anyone work near the Eaton's Centre?

Did you see the helicopter that just landed on the roof of the parking lot? (Dundas one)

There are a lot of movie vehicles rolling onto the roof now. Any ideas of what's filming in town right now?

I'm glued to the window waiting for something exciting to happen.

Dammit.

Hmmm, could be one of those that just landed at Bay and Dundas.

Security gards and a "daniel's film company" van are parked on the roof.

People with walkie-talkies looking very official.

Interesting.

Damn, Foiled Again!!

I'm on the 44th floor of the TD Centre with boardrooms that look right at the Eaton Centre. I just ran over to check, I can see the top of the Yonge St. parking lot but my view of the Dundas St. lot is blocked by some building on Queen...a little excitement would have ended the day perfectly!!

sounds like a big-ass set-up, so its probably either The Farm (which is an al pacino cia movie) or THe Bulletproof Monk (a Chow-Yun Fat kung-fu movie)...

Just got this email from Eaton Center property management:

In case you are wondering - it's a commercial film shoot happening this afternoon and evening on the roof of the Dundas Parkade. Part of the commercial is the landing of a helicopter on the corner of the roof. The shoot will be completed just after dusk.

Boring! Sorry Val no cute movie stars.....

I was chilling with a transport guy the other day who was working on that show last week. He said pacina had a mad hissy fit on set in front of like 40 people. Started sceaming about people looking at him and told them to all get the fuck out of there.

lori i definitely have hear things like that about pacino before. i know that during blockings for scenes he won't let the camera assistant tape marks at his feet... basically this fucks the focus puller becuase he can't get a precise distance between the camera and pacino before the shot.

hehe.... whatever though, he's still the godfather... i'd still bow at his feet!

what's the name of the transport guy you were talking to?

I saw Al Pacino outside my old neighborhood (college and palmerston) last month. they filmed bits of *THE FARM* in lava lounge for a few days.

Totally, I'm working on building a new intranet plus doing DB admin. It's a good spot, lotsa free food, lot's of freedom.

Only shitty thing is the staff is moving, originally up to 69 at 1st Canadian, but now to the 4th floor just w on King. I'm gonna miss the vistas man, looking out over the lake on a clear day, or back up into the city or west as the sun's going down, it's killer up there.

Shoulda been a lawyer eh Will?

who do you know?

i know what you mean about the view. at my old firm, i had a window on the 62nd floor of scotia plaza. first facing north, then west. now i'm on 35 at the royal bank tower, facing south. not as good a view but still pretty sweet. you get used to it so you don't even notice it after awhile though. the elevators are also pretty crazy (my ears still pop every time).

who do you know?

buncha people. it's a relatively small community.

at my old firm, i worked with joel scoler, ian scott, sean o'neill, articled with susan spence (shared a student office with her too) and peter goode. elana lipstein was one of our articling students. i teach once a week with francoise gilbert. pete brauti is the brother of two of my best friends from high school. richard nixon is married to one of the lawyers in my group so i've met him at functions. i've done a few deals with braham costin and doug klaasen and a bunch of the real estate/finance ppl. and bob forbes (if he's still there) was my contracts prof.

if you know joel scoler, francoise gilbert or pete brauti, please say hi for me. we practically lived at the brauti cottage in the summer (appropriately dubbed "brophstock"). pete's one of the best barefoot waterskiers in the country. (don't ask me why that popped into my head.)

and, of course, lil michelle (naomi and normie's roommate) is one of the new receptionists. she'll be looking for you tomorrow. ;)

Small world ...

We have a bunch of McCarthy Tetrault people passing through our office all the time. I've only ever met a guy named "Jerrold" though. Of course, we usually just refer to everyone as "the lawyers". ;)
