Does anyone go to the Keg anymore? Are they even still around?

I can't remember the last time I went to the Keg... The Jurassic period maybe. Kegs used to be everywhere in Toronto, but I haven't seen one in ages, Are they still around?

The Keg Mansion on Jarvis is very busy. I'll go there once or twice a year.

It seems to me like there's fewer small restaurants in TO where you can get roast beef and mashed potatoes. One of my favourites used to be The Bay Cafe on the sixth floor. The views were great, and they had an evening roast beef special for under $10. I was very disappointed when they got rid of that cafe.

Nowadays, any restaurant that serves real mashed potatoes and beef tends to be one of those big chain steak houses that charge $30 for a meal.

The Keg is still very alive and well. The York Street one has a great patio and the app specials are amazing. Great food to be honest.

The one on Jarvis is still very busy on a weekend night. Lots of cars pulling in and out of there.

Alex, I guess you don't have cable? Keg commercials are still on when I turn on hotel TVs. Still a very popular chain. You should like you don't leave Leslieville! Like me! lol

That's hilarious. I used to go to the Eaton's one cuz they had amazing prime rib for cheap. I was just talking about it yesterday to an American.

And sometimes I try to hit a roast special. You can get a decent roast beef dinner these days for around $20. Going to Queen and Beaver tomorrow for theirs.

Still one of the best steaks you can get at that price point. You can definitely expect consistency. Only thing i've had better cheaper was La Tulip and Sidecar.

You do realize Google has been invented to answer these inane questions?

Yes they are still alive, yes they are still busy, yes they still make a pretty decent steak.

^I wonder if alex will ever admit it, but others here suspected alex keeps asking these redundant questions and creates these new threads for 'search engine indexing' solely to bring more hits to the Tribe website? LOL ch33se

The Keg is the go-to place in suburbia. Since you live downtown you won't / don't see them very often. I don't remember them being downtown in more urban areas though.

You're living under a rock lately?

I recently went to the York Street patio...and I was treated like a king.

They are a Canadian institution of sorts who have high expectations of how to serve their customers.

Recently, I ordered a medium rare steak. The waitress was refilling our drink order when she noticed me cut into my steak. It wasn't medium rare. I didn't even say a word and the steak was promptly taken away and my drink given to me for free.

I go with the GF every week or two still. The rib steak is the bomb. I love their horseraddish as well with their prime rib.

Hit the one on York St. almost monthly...actually going tonight!

Is it the best steak in the city - hell no.

Is the food/service good for the price - hell yes.

Nice. Yeah, I had a great dinner there. And had a really nice birthday dinner at another one. One thing about these chains is that the service excellence and food consistency is high. I had a meal at Milestones that kinda didn't work out. They redid it, gave us extra and comped everything.

Now I wanna go to the Keg. After a very pricey and cheesy birthday dinner at Ruth's Chris, I think I need to make up for it.

all taste same
I had the best steak at Milestone's. lol
It was a perfect filet with purple root vegetables. Cooked perfectly because they fucked up the first one. It was so black, I couldn't even cut through it. I got the server to try cutting it.

And hate to say it but I had Montreal smoked meat at Pickel Barrel and it was actually really delicious melt in your mouth fatty/lean smoked meat. I was shocked.

Earls has the best pizza I've had so far. Way better than Libretto IMO.

It is curious because the threads are often pointless.... Efforts might be better spent consulting with an SEO specialist because I doubt that these threads would deliver even marginal improvement. In queries against the Keg (or other threads with brands in the title) I would doubt Tribe would even land in the top 10 pages of results.
