TORONTO – Police have arrested one of two men in connection to a stabbing incident that sent a man to hospital with critical injuries in downtown Toronto overnight.

Police say the 33-year-old victim was walking and texting in the Yonge-Dundas Square area around 12:30 a.m. when he accidentally bumped into two men.

One of the two men then took out a knife and stabbed the bystander in the chest.

The victim was taken to hospital and remains in life-threatening condition.

Police say they have surveillance image of the incident and have since made one arrest.

Mohamed Ali, 27, faces two charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
