After the boxing day battle i was totally looking forward to this night and was expecting a full night of breaks. However, i probally heard as much (if not more) house than breaks.
At the begining of the night i was too busy socializing and buying drinks to pay much attention to the music, i was waiting for Robb G to come on anyways. i had heard that he was gonna be spinnin' with Jelo and was a little worried. Don't get me wrong, i love Robb and and i love Jelo, but Robb and Jelo spinnin' together...
The problem wasn't the music or their skills, both are brilliant DJs, it was the fact that Robb would spin some breaks and i'd start to get my groove on, then Jelo would come on and spin some house and totally kill the flow. Then just when i'd start gettin' into Jelo's tunes, Robb would come back on and throw down some breaks and kill the flow again. The whole set was like this and made it really hard to get into. One thing i really liked about these two though was the head bangin' competition they had goin on, i always love to see DJ's really get into their music.
Next up was Stretch & Hooker. They threw down some good house tracks but fucked up a few mixes. I was just happy that they weren't switchin' between styles of music too drastically even though all i wanted to hear was breaks.
After Stretch & Hooker, D-Monic and Dave Saddler came on and finally, i was in heaven. This was definitely the set of the night, nothin' but sweet, sweet breaks. Of course by this time my legs were startin to give but the two just kept me goin anyways.
All in all, i had a wicked time despite the fact that in my opinion there weren't enough breaks being spun. I hope Monkey keeps these little party's goin, it was nice to have some breaks on a saturday, the only problem is i'm too ruined to go to breakfest now.
