Let me start off with what a wicked night of dancing and shaking my ass...
But let me follow with, where the hell was representation at this party?
I don't know if it was the promotion of this party, the people not knowing who DJ Bam Bam is ... or just no one wanted to go out.
But this party was not busy at all and I feel for the Promoters.
I arrived early, about 10:45, wanted to catch Oystrixxx's set. And I was glad I did. He was playing a nice hard banging house set, all the classics. All the stuff that's at the back of my record crates these days. Anthem after Anthem he was banging them out. And pretty tight on the mixing, seemed like a trend for the night.
After Oystrixxx's set, DJ Impact from Ottawa graced the decks to pump out the UK Hard House. Not my favourite Genre these days... but it was fun and pumping. And this boy knew his tracks and was scratching it up and having fun spinning. Something I like to see in a DJ. Seemed like he was not even trying, mixing fast and making it funky.
Up next was the man who brought Chicago Hard House to the TDot, Kamikaze. Kamikaze was spinning a lot of Booty and Tech House this evening. A great mixture in my opinion... also through in some hard funky tracks throughout his set. A great set in the end. A nice blend of 3 genres. He was even having fun killing DJ Dan's zipper track with some Juggling ...
Next up on the decks was the man whom I'd been waiting to hear since I heard about this party. DJ Bam Bam!
Bam Bam has slowly but surely made an impression on me in the past few years... as a DJ and a Producer. And last night was another proof of that. He's taken over in the Hard Banging House/Techno scene where Bad Boy Bill left off. He's a great DJ with DMC styles and mixing is generally flawless and relentless.
These days he bangs out Techno, Tech House, Hard House like no other.
I spent most of his set dancing my ass off and taking pictures of him mixing it up. He was scratching, juggling and having tons of fun doing it all, scratching behind the back, under the leg, etc...
A great showman last night... smiling the whole time and enjoying himself, even though the turnout wasn't great.
I had a chance to talk to him briefly after his set, see what's up with him lately production wise and was informed unfortunately for this Hard House fan that UC is bankrupt and I won't be buying anymore anthems from this old Hard House label.
And he was nice to be hooking up a bunch of people with his Promotional CD "BUMP" ... haven't checked it out. But I'm pretty sure I'll be very happy with it.
Up after Bam Bam was DJ Unabomber... playing a little less dark Techno and banging it out, a nice follow up to Bam Bam. I didn't get a chance to catch all his set, by this time I was too tired to dance and my ride was about ready to leave. Caught about half his set and was impressed...
Sorry I didn't get to catch Decepticon's set, would of liked it if he was on earlier, I can't seem to stay for the 5am sets these days...
Overall it was exactly what I expected, a night of wicked music for myself, but I was very disappointed with the turnout. I feel for the promoters and hope if they do throw more parties, that the people come and check them out.
It was great dancing my ass off with all you... you know who you are. Until next time
I'll post some pics in a bit, and the rest of my pics will be online @ Groove.ca in the near future.
