I don't really know about him, but I think the track is QUALITY. I listened to a clip of it on Release Records site of all places. It is one of the few I listened to recently that jumped out at me.

I am starting to play around with spinning and buying techno a bit and this release is on my list.

If you HAD to classify it, how would you?

Maxine: justa little techno shake i cant seem to get outta me ...

How are you ?

Nesta: thanks dude, i figured that ... his sound is sooooooo Italian tech....ala gaetano, marco, davide squillance,markantonio,geezers,qmen....etc.....

pumping record folks..... i would recommend it in a flash!

so whats up techno fiends, my little discussion hasn't touched the "tribe techno elitists".....

let me get the ball rollin' again.....

as of late i have been toying around 3 decks...question is , would you people rather hear clean, cut, QUICK mixes?

or hear the third deck kickin in?

i preferably think yes, its cool to do three, but honestly i prefer a tighter longer mix.......... tommy's new cd is a prime example.

29 tracks in 74 minutes? and quick tight mixes........ something like that , do you really need the third deck????

discuss...........

DUDE - the whole point of djing is to explore how YOU choose to interpret the music.

If everyone dj'ed the same, it would be pretty boring. Track selection isn't the only variable.

the one thing with 3 decks that you gotta be careful of is not to over do it - i've seen people rock 3 decks but it sounded like my head was caught in a blender - especially when one of those tracks sounds perfect on its own....BUT...if you're working very tracky dj-tool friendly tracks that just loop over and over and over again for 4 minutes, you can have lots of fun layering/eqing/cutting with 2 other tracks of similar substance...

so to summarize..it depends.

as far as quick mixes vs. long mixes....that depends too - variety is always good .... hearing 15 mixes that all sound the same gets pretty boring.

in the end, it really doesn't matter if you use 4 decks or if you play 40 tracks in an hour - the real question is how does the mix/set *feel* and how well does it work.

i appreciate the positive reference to my latest mix - to use that as an example, i was warming up to the notion of doing 3 decks, and i probably could have piled 35+ tracks into the 74 minute session, but it would have been too disjointed, and for the tracks i was playing, and the mood of the mix, it just wouldn't have worked.

there's a big difference between hammering out tracks for 1-2 hours as opposed to constructing a set....just look at derrick may - he can mix like nobodies business, and his sets are always so filled with flavour....truly inspirational.

cheers,
tommy

Danilo Vigorito has been putting out records for about a year and a half now. The Primate record along with the recent one he did on Episode are his weakest releases by far.

I swear when you do a record for Primate you have to have a riding crash cymbal come in after the second break in all your tracks, check your primate records they all have them.

The first Orbeat record was by far his best, its the only release on that label thus far AFAIK, but expect more. I only hope he doesn't fall into the same italian rut of making boring club trax a la Gaetano, Cerrone and Carola.

He also produces under the pseudonym Orion Musik on Frozen. There's a new Orion Musik coming out next week, watch for it!

He's also got a new one coming out on Isoghi next week. I have my fingers crossed on this one.

cheers

funky,tribally sound taking off

First off, Tommy nice mix. the number of tracks you played fit well, not too many and at the same time, none of the tracks are played out to the point they become boring.
I think everyone that posts here has at least one of the records in your tracklisting which proves the sweeping popularity of the funky/tribal sound.

Danillo Vigoito has another recent release
Danillo Vigorito - Sonar EP - Isoghi
Its alot more like the recent Marco Carola, Rino Cerrone releases than the ep thats just come out on Primate

Long mixes VS. quick ones - I find that in the club environment that I usually play in it really depends on the vibe in the crowd and what I'm trying to do musically for the dance floor.

hrmmm... everyone has there own opinion , personally i thought the " workin' progress EP " was WORKIN' !

anyhow, thanks for the 411 dude.... :) i'll keep my eyes pealed for the next release you stated..

dj MIKE : totally agree with you dude, its all bout the CROWD....but being a rookie i happen to play more about myself...

Adam: i never said track selection is the only variable.Hey man, your not the only dj that is diverse in track selection..... ;)

Tommy: agreed man.... like i said, just toying around, honestly only a few can pull it off....(twonz the 3 deck master...and carola of old) it tends to get too noisy with too many elements going on in my opinion...

anyhow, tight Cd dude....mucho propo's

anyone else care to bring up more discussion??

Nicely said. There's a time and place for every kind of mix basically. Sometimes a track can be good on it's own and other (party) situations requires that something be layered over that same track. A 3rd deck then is useful in cueing up the next track, you don't necessarily have to have em going all at once. I've heard DJ's use 3 records to do a build up and when that fucker finally lands.... WOW  <--- has to be executed properly.

It's always good to see a novice at the 3 deck thing trying it out and getting a feel for it, it shows that they arn't limited and want to learn more even if doesn't come out 100%. That goes for any complex mixes also...

ACK! That's not what i meant at all... I just meant that you shouldn't have to ask others about how to mix three decks. Whats so wonderful about going out to hear dj's is their interpretations of what to do with the same tools that we all use.

@m. <--will never tell anyone to mix like i do.

what's up Adam?

do you seriously got that much of a hate on for me? every post/thread i make or whatever......seems your always on my back dude...

chill man...im on the same side as you.

TO ANSWER your question, i never once asked anyone "HOW" to mix 3 decks i simply asked what people felt about it as opposed to 2 deck mixin'...

Adam, lay off me man, i simply asked a question....quit rippin' into me like im some fucking poser.

peace.

<-- don't wanna play nice..end of discussion.

That's IT, dude. Next time I see you, I'm gonna flog you silly with a rubber chicken. I think we both take offense to each other too easily. This relationship will never work if we can't communicate properly, Doug.

Then what am i dupposed to do, huh? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO???

I cry.
