holy lord!!!!!
I've never been inside a house room, let alone an all house party and all i can say right now that it was the best party i've been to in a long time.
Everyone was just into dancing, everyone was going crazy.
And he played FINALLY not once but TWICE!!!! TWICE I tell ya, I nearly fainted that is the track that has made me fall in love with house.

Absolutely amazing!

We ventured down around 12ish to the newly renovated Warehouse. Place looked incredible, the old warehouse that used to house so many of us in the old partying days had been completely revamped into a classy all white and modern venue. The Milk crew put it to full use, hanging massive white drapes to close off the inside section that gave the room the feeling of an incredibly small and tight vibed party. The oversized disco ball dead center topped it off for that 70's disco fetish feel we all wanted to experience.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Dimitri!

1am the groovy disco legend took the decks and graced us with the sounds we had all been hoping for. Sweet over-the-top disco funk. It was heaven. I loved it, everyone loved it, you couldn’t of asked for more. Shortly thereafter our king of the tables threw down one of the most soulful and vocal oriented tracks ever produced. Kings of Tomorrow - Finally. You should of seen it, ran chills down my spine. The crowd went apeshit! Hands in the air, over-the-top cheers from all! It was classic and brought a smile to this kids face. The rest of the set couldn’t of been any better. Soulful, groovy, just simply incredible.

It was everything I could of ever wanted, and so much more.

PaRtYKiD’s rating 9/10

My friend and I arrived at 10:30. I hate it when they make us wait outside for 15 minutes when there isn't anyone inside anyway. We got in and there were 50 people already inside (which was nothing). It slowly filled up to it's max at about 12:30ish. I tried holding back from dancing, saving my self for dmitri, but gave in to all those funky grooves. The pictures they kept flashing at the front were very psychadelic. How they kept showing the guy with the mustache with a fade out shot that started very close to his face and moved out. Personally I preferred the 2nd dj as he was just funkier which was why we were there. Dmitri for part of it at least wasn't all that funky and was more into the bass which was good yes but isn't dmitri. My friend said "he sounds more like carl cox" which I had to agree with. However the vibe from the croud was wicked although there were some drunken stupid people which I'll get to in a sec. THe cloth they used to separate the dancefloor was very cool although this one drunken guy used it to his advantage to grab girls asses. They couldn't see his face and they ended up fighting almost for a minute as he tried to grab other parts of her body and ended up grabbing her face which really wasn't cool. I saw this guy for the rest of the evening walking around touching girls as he went by adn that really wasn't cool as he freaked people out. Besides that one part though I had the same amount of fun as when I saw mistress barbara at tonic. Just being able to boogie was very enlightening and being able to dance a different style for the night than from what I'm used to hearing at breathe was very refreshing. The biggest problem I had with it though was that there weren't enough seats and the ones that were there were used by the same people for the entire night. We ended up leaving at 4am having stood and danced since 10pm as a result of not being able to sit anywhere. Jake the snakes rating out of ten 8 or 8.5 otu of 10.

Not everyone understands house music... but everyone did last night holy shit...What a tight vibe, i loved every minute of last night pumping music and no one would let me stand still....
And i think i saw you partkidd where you with a short blond girl from the hulla board. Cause if so i was right next to you for a lot of the night. I know we have met before but i don't know if that was you.

That was my first milk and that will not be my last....

Ok, reading all the reviews above is making me wonder where I must have been last night. I mean, yah, the decor at the Warehouse was stellar, and the new look of the place is pretty sweet. But I just couldn't get into Dmitri's set. Trust me, I tried and I forced myself to move, just to stay awake, but I guess I just wasn't made for house music. My 5 friends didn't enjoy it either, despite their worship of Dmitri. House is just a little too flat for me. I prefer the peaks and valleys of trance.

There were some good parts about last night though - first, almost all the girls were smiling and being really friendly. The images on the cloth and the disco ball were intense as hell. I felt disoriented when I looked at the white cloth around the middle floor. The swirling lights made me feel like the room was spinning - and I was almost completely sober

Anyone going to check out Chicks on Speed tonight at the ElMo? I think it'll be a totally strange/fun time.

hot damn, do i love milk parties!!
last nite was no exception!! sweet sweet house music all nite long!!

my nite was a serious of drunken adventures - started off with a quick trip to bside then una mas then finally milk. during which large amoutns of alcohol were consumed! by the time we hit the warehouse i was ready to get my groove on....dmitri certainly did not dissappoint!!

one drawback was the fact that in honour of a stylin' nite of disco house (and by escorting by my 'pimp' CC) i felt i had to dress the part. damn high boots....can't dance in them!!

as always, the music, the decor and the people at milk parties are of the highest calibar....nice to see partykid, michie, my little stevie d, my ottawa visitors....and whomever else i can't remember in my hungover haze
biggrin.gif
eriot - i was despartely looking for ya! but alas, you were nowhere to be found!!

dannielle and CC - thanks for the adventure last nite! shawn - you'll have to pimp me out again...we make a good team

I thought the whole night was funky delicious.

I wish I could see a time lapse photo from about 11 to say, 12:30, from a point when my party was dancing in front of the DJ set up to the time people just started moving in and standing / doing nothing / drinking / circulating on a pickup prowl. I would watch myself just drift further and further back, well, that is if the time lapse photography could cut through the pall of smoke which seemed to be increasing exponentially by the minute.

Fortunately all you have to do is move back a bit to nearer the entrance and there's still plenty room to get your groove on

i'm going to write up a little review corey styles; nice long description of the whole night

going into this party i felt that i had to see what this milk thing was all about. i had an impression that it was this all dressed up affair where people were a touch on the snobby side and there was really bad house. as it was, i had some doubts about actually going, seeing as the Flirt party at una mas that i was at, seemed really great. so i wasn't as excited to go as most people probably were. i am a pretty open guy, and i walked through the front doors with an open mind. i figured that if the place was nicely decorated and my friends were there, then it couldn't be all that bad.

with this in mind i walked through the doors, quickly went ran towards the washroom for yet another pee stop, as the many drinks of the evening were taking a toll on me. as i walked towards the back i reallized the abosolute beauty of the set up. the cloth draiped from the ceiling was a perfect way to create different atmospheres and walk ways around the warehouse, at the same time as giving it a more small party feel than the warehouse usually does. one point for milk!

as i return from the washroom and collect the drink that mcbee had bought for me (i blew all my money at the last bar we were at) we find our friends and the adventure begins. drunk as anything i find it a little hard to dance, but this gave me a great opportunity to people watch. i notice that the crowd is pretty varied. everyone from the partier from way back to people who've probably never been to what we would consider a party. but this works so well.

as i listen a little more, i actually find myself enjoying the music and i can't help but try to dance, despite how slow and drunk i feel. i can't help but continually think of how refreshing house is from my more usual drum and bass diet.

i end up running into a few people that i knew and chat it up for a bit, and somehow commit myself to buying tons of drinks next weekend for corey (and i think i promised stevie some drinks too, but i've been told he'll only need one and he'll pass out cold). no worries, i'll come through guys; making others drunk is almost as much fun as making yourself drunk, so we're all good.

as the night goes on i meet a host of characters here and there (seeing as my drunk idiot friends continually wandered away!!!). i find it nice to once again meet random people while i'm out on the town, and the people i met were great company.

music gets progressively better and the dance floor continues to rage on. didn't even try to find space on the dance floor area, as it was too packed, but i opted for a nice spot just off to the side. i'm starting to reallize just why milk has bcome so much of a household name. the overall love of music and dancing seemed to be second to none. very nice change as well to the clubs where people have little clue of what's actually going on, and where only a few people dance.

by the time i have to leave to hand out a few flyers, i'm left really drunk, but better than that, i'm left waiting for the next milk party.

Izzy, you rock! you put on a great show.

Dayum, this is how an event is supposed to be thrown. Even the best review and the kindest adjectives couldn't describe the kind of night was experienced at Dmitri.

The newly renovated Warehouse space was astonishing -- lots of video projections amidst giant white minimalist walls and lots of white veiled drapes. Along with its new name, ONE has gotten a nice little facelift. And the milk crew didn't stop short at making the space even more intimate. This is how a space is supposed to look.

The lineup was long but that was to be expected ... and the combination of mixup and chaos got me into the venue, with my coat checked in less than 15 minutes. Pure luck on my part ... but I was DAM grateful!

As for the crowd, I couldn't have been more pleased. Venturing off to the Guvernment complex is always an apprehensive thing ... even if it *is* a milk party.

But the crowd was definitely dancy, classy and not-at-all-sketchy. There were smiles all around, no pushy-shovy people, and no glowstick-eye-rolling-teeth-grinding psychopaths. (Not that there's anything wrong with that
biggrin.gif
) And the knowledgeable, mature and classy crowd definitely ate up the disco house offerings of Dmitri (He's from Paris!)

Man. Nights like these are rare, especially for large events. And I've always been a little fearful of the "Stand, Pose but Don't Dance" Milk crowd...But with a track record of two-for-two, Milk's Dmitri from Paris is definitely a night to remember ... and one to hope for in the near future.

.StEEvEEdEE.

PS - It was nice seeing McBee, Corey, Shawn et al. Man, I don't know if I'm gunna be able to handle Toronto all summer again....or if Toronto will be able to handle StEEvEEdEE!

it was more of a comment on how smart we are when we're drinking. i'm sure i said or did a few things that qualified myself as a drunken idiot. i known that i've been a drunken idiot at most other parties; just take a look at all the stupid pictures there are of me in circulation.

and ya, house is growing on me more.

I went because a bunch of friends dig Dmitri's CDs and I felt like dancing...

....the Milk crew did a nice job of making a big room look smaller. The crowd was fantastic. Dmitri couldn't mix if his life depended on it, but the tracks he laid down seemed to please the crowd, so everyone was having a great time. Abacus was much better, IMO. Good times though....

Anyone know where the photographers stuff can be seen?

I actually tried to go to Garage 416 to see Joe Clausell, but ended up waiting in line for 40 minutes in a slow moving line only to be told by security that they have reached capacity and that the line would be for ticket holders only .

So me and my friends decided to go to milk. Milk was our second choice only because there $30 cover seemed a bit too high. What happened to the good old days when milk parties were $12 advance and $15 at the door?

• The drapes did give the illusion of a more intimate setting, although I still perferred getting down in a more small intamate setting, the warehouse is too big.

• I have to agree with E-riot....the highlight of the night was when dimitri played Finally ..........mmmmmm nice, nice song. I've said it before and i'll say it again. RESPECT TO SOULFUL HOUSE!

• It was cool to see two guys in wheelchairs get their groove on, they were busting some moves still.

• The woman at milk parties are always proper and on point.

Yeah I have nothing but love for milk......but I think they have gone a bit commercial which i guess is all good for them but bad for us in the sense that we have to pay more money to go to there parties.

Can't wait till Friday for the next Garage 416 party.........this time i'll show up earlier and buy a ticket

peace & stay phokused.
