Most bars usually don't ... I think has to do something with the laws about last call times or something

Nesta: the official time to set back your clock is 3am.

3am back to 2am is still last call thus no extra drinking hours.

They do it in montreal, where last call is 3 am. I experienced the beauty of that last year at this time...

I can name a few well known bars that various friends were at last night that served until 3.

don't want to get them into trouble tho... some places do and some don't.

I can say that I ejoyed feeling like I woke up early today. that extra hour is much appreciated though I won't be happy at 5PM tonight when it's dark already.

Yes, we did it at System Soundbar,
and NO it is not illegal- if you noticed the yearlong crackdown on Proper liquor procedure, many of us have been busted (and punished) for such minor, pointless, and even out-dated "violations" - Simply for working at their job the best way they know how. Clubs/owners/employees have been through a lot of S and have put with a lot of B lately. It would be pretty silly if all of the bars in the Entertinment district (okay, maybe not all-'many') got together and formed a master plan - to rebel against the law & openly serve after 2am for one full hour, but only that one- and only last night- I don't think the CASH$ money from the extra sales would outway the possible repercutions for that (silly?- greedy?stoopid?) behaviour.

sorry for the bad spelling, so sleepy :)-and that's my 8 or 12 cents i think that's 'bout right :) back to bed for me.

That extra hour of drinking at Mint was perfect.

Not to mention that Krafty Kuts fucking killed it last night.

Well, my clocks in my house (those that are on DST switch automatically, i.e. my VCR and my puter) switched back at 2 last night.

I lived the 1-2 hour twice. It was neither here nor there.

I always thought that you turned your clock back at 2am.

Which would then officially make it it 1am, making it legal to serve until the new 2am.

So it wouldn't be illegal but there may be some sort of mention in the bylaw preventing this.

Yeah my computer went back at 2:00 am to 1:00am so I am inclined to believe that this is the offficial time.

I'm assuming we are the same as the US, and therefor it is not illegal to keep serving. Its just the perogitive of the bars.

When in the morning?

In the U.S., clocks change at 2 am local time. In Spring, clocks spring forward from 1:59 am to 3 am; in Fall, clocks fall back from 1:59 am to 1 am. In the EU, clocks change at 1 am Universal Time. In Spring, clocks spring forward from 12:59 am to 2 am; in Fall, clocks fall back from 1:59 am to 1 am.

Nationwide, U.S. restaurants and bars have varied closing policies. In many states, liquor cannot be served after 2 a.m. But at 2 a.m. in the Fall, the time switches back one hour. So, can they serve for that additional hour in October? The official answer is that the bars do not close at 2 a.m. but actually at 1:59 a.m. So, they are already closed when the time changes from Daylight Saving Time into Standard Time. In practice however, many establishments stay open an extra hour in the Fall.

In the U.S., the changeover time was arbitrarily chosen to be 2 am, when most people are at home. This is practical and minimizes disruption. It is late enough to minimally affect bars and restaurants, and prevent the day from switching to yesterday (which would be confusing). It is early enough that the entire continental U.S. has switched by daybreak, and the changeover occurs before most early shift workers and early churchgoers (particularly on Easter).

So for those that didn't serve an extra hour. Say you had an open drink past 2:45, and they bussers didnt find it. But then once 3 hits, you expose your drink, and they come to take it away.

If you say "Hey, it's only 2 am!!" would they still let you drink it?

Hmmm ...

What if I get a hooker at 2am, and then we change the clocks back one hour? Does that mean I get one hour of her services for FREE?! :)
