We have a winner! Thanks to everybody who came out and supported on what seemed to be the most miserable evening of the month!

art: This was my first time in the Lab but let me say what a great space, the collaborative artwork downstairs was a hit, in fact we had so may talented artists come out we probably could have used 5 canvasses instead of 3.

tunes: The sound was awesome all night, I was really impressed, 3 cheers for Mental Floss rinsing it with the jungle when the Live PA stuff just wasn't working out. All the DJ's were in full effect and I kept telling myself not to interrupt for tune-id's. Thanks to The Electrician, J-Mat, Myagi, tommysmalls and Mental Floss for the great tunes!!

fresh fruit: it was a hit, who knew broccoli was the perfect party vegetable, thanks to Green Earth Organics, our sponsor for the evening for supplying us with the awesome fruit'n'veg (we were cleaned out by 2am!) www.greenearthorganics.com

(and finally) people: thanks to everybody who helped to organize, participate and put together our wicked wicked first-party. You helped make it a huge success and we will most definately be having a repeat performance. Most importantly thank you to everybody in attendance!! Showing your support and coming out made this the best party out there. We won't dissapoint you in the future.

Check out our website in a few days for party pics, a post-party review and find out what Deep green Robots Design Group is really about...

Yes, I was stressing for the first hour. At 10:30, I, for some reason, freaked out cuz I thought it was 12 or something. And only 10 people??? I flipped. Looked at my watch, calmed down. And got myself a beer.

I'm at work so I'll have to review later but I just wanted to thank EVERYONE for coming out to support our event. It was a great success and I think this is a sign that more will come as a result.

Thank you to Headwinds for getting me involved. I am forever greatful.

The saddest part of the night was having to take down my porn from the bathrooms. :(
Which says a lot about how much fun I had if that was the only bad thing that happened.

Argh, gotta start my shift. Will review later.

THANKS AGAIN for the support!

xo.

Sunny.

I was there from about 12 to 2:30...Myagi is my friend's cousin, I had no idea Tribe people organized it. :) It was fun...danced for a bit, added to the collages (the words CRACK and LONGEVITY are mine)...unfortunately I ended up missing Myagi's 2nd set as I was itching to go to Resistor.

i had fun too!

the music was good. the crowd seemed nice.
the breakdancing gumbi animation was spot-on hilarious.

the canvasses and fruit/veggies downstairs were a great idea.

too bad i had to leave so early, but i will definitely be back to support all you starving artists the next time around.

What was the deal with the fruit? No offence, but quite a large deal was made about this, and it just seemed a little funny. I mean, I like fruit as much as the next person (especially since I'm vegetarian), but I don't think I'd se it as an attraction to an event : )

What's next? "RAVE 2002 featuring DJs, Artwork, BreakDancing and a Goat?"

Just curious if this struck anyone else as mildly humorous?

All we wanted was some fresh fruit and veggies for people to snack on. Sort of a bonus for people who came out to support our event. It was just a quick and simple idea. I thought it was funny how it actually got some notice in both Eye Weekly and Now Magazine. And now on here.

Well, if fruit supposedly is not something that would attract attendees, that notion was certainly shot down last night from all the people who ate out our stock in a mere hour. Fruit attracts people!

We had SO MUCH food and it was gone SO quick.

Thanks to all who patroned.

good work DGRDG ppl

i dragged about 20 people from my program, including profs, to the lab -- so needless to say, my worlds were colliding all OVER the place.
if anyone caught the steamin-piss-drunk woman in the black turtleneck-tank who could barely stand up or keep her eyes open, being fed water by her hapless fiance, that was my teacher. woo-hoo.

anyways, thanks to the organizers for a great event; hope there are more to come! nice to see everyone :)

p.s. sunny, i loved your porn.

Ha ha!
Fuck. She was quite entertaining that one, and hammered! My favorite part was when she fell down in the middle of the dancefloor and it took 3 people to get her up. That must have felt weird to witness for you...!

This was my first "art party". Yes, I'm finally catching on to the coolest thing. :p
It was neat. I'd definitely go to another.

Loved the topless cowboys Sunny! ;)

My oh my!

This was the first time I was involved in a party! And I must say that I had a great sense of fufillment! Seeing smiling faces, dancing feet and people mingling. :)

We had alot of regulars, people who saw our posters that wanted something different and passer-byers!

The tunes were rockin! Myagi, The Electrician, J-Mat, tommysmalls and Mental Floss put on a great show for all those who were in attendance.

There was a real vibe of intimacy and family. As people were in awe of the visuals, chillin' out downstairs, snacking on veggies and dip and fruit that were provided by our sponsor, Green Earth Organics and most of all...contributing to our canvases!. It made me feel so warm inside to see people crowding around the canvases, cutting and pasting pictures, drawing and writing to make their own lil' mark.
;)

Thank you to all the Tribers that came out in spite of the cold, rainy weather and for relating the word-of-mouth to your friends!

Overall, it was a great success! I couldn't ask for anything more!

Now a couple of shoutouts are in order...
Brandon, Jess and Charles: Despite your tired heads and worries, everything turned out fine! Thank you for involving in your baby-project.

Kareem: Even though you had dislocated your knee and sat all night at the door that kept on opening and letting in COLD freezing-ass air, you were in the best of moods! We shared a ton of laughs and I hope to see you again! (Wierd that we know the same people, talk about 6 degrees of separation!)

Rob: Thanks for relieving me of my door duties and coming out with me to get my midnite snack!

Sunny: I didn't know you had to take your porn down! After all that work tearing our pictures and taping them! :p It was great to see you camera-happy!

Greg: Twas great meeting you! We both share the same vision of DGRDG! We'll work on it once I'm done with school!

I'm looking foward to throwing another party in the near future with all of you!

:D

That is all!

this party was our first opus as a non-profit
design group. we wanted to transform a
venue into a pulsating space with lots
of audio and visual and fruit stimulus to keep you
dancing -- we listened to tribers
demand for clean washrooms -- we cleaned them
up as best we could (with
dirty pictures -- I wanted a Martha Stewart effect but
with MoFo as lavatory decorator we got a glossy Bruce La Bruce
spread -- very entertaining nonetheless to watch porn migrate
from the washrooms to the canvasses).

there were a few slight glitches during the course of
the evening: the interface that i designed
to mix and layer the visuals failed, and we had to launch
one at a time, and the mysterious door
prize disappeared (we actually decided to serve
both the fruit and veggies which were an absolute
life saver for the tech team who hadnt eaten
all day.

but no one seemed to notice or -- if they did -- they
scratched their heads and didnt complain. During mental floss
laptop mixed d&b set, no one (including those involved) seemed to understand the experimental photoshop battle using digital pictures of the crowd
but at least they seemed transfixed on the sheet.
This idea does have potential but
needs to be practiced and setup unlike
the cave paintings downstairs which filled up fast.
the crayons, markers, and tear n'paste (sorry no knives) made sense.

it was great to see everyone and i'd like to thank
all those who helped out -- you

and a hear a live set
recorded that night by
the new dynamic DJ duo College Radio
(so new they haven't mastered mixing
but excellent track selection -- they
have also have learned about track order)
on our website: www.deepgreenrobots.com

stay tuned for more DGRDG multimedia events later
this year.

cheers!
