DERB = Gino Trance?

I was listening to Z103.5 last night, and much to my surprise, I heard them playing DERB - DERB. Apparently this track is "huge in Acapulco" and has now made its way to Canadian dance radio.

Could this signal an explosion in popularity for a harder, darker, and techier style of trance ... nü-Trance?! :)

i get regular mailings from a new york record store and they now have a nu section called 'nu jazz'!

i wouldn't call it "nuskool" trance...that german/italian/belgium sound has been around for a long time.

as far as tracks making it on the radio, i wouldn't worry about that either. this stuff is mainstream already. By the time it hits the record shops here, it's already been hammered by dj's overseas, played out in clubs, and music videos aired.

just enjoy the stuff.

True, but I think in general, Canada follows British music trends more closely. We both went through a phase where epic trance was king, but the "new" direction is towards German style stuff.

I dunno, maybe it's actually more correct to start using the term RETRO-TRANCE. :)

yes indeed, but i think i might be more of a software guy.. it just gathers dust right now. mint condition access virus kb - $3200.. anyone? ha..

not 100% i'd want to get rid of it since its a beautiful sounding synth and very hard to come by these days due to demand but i almost think it would receive more use with someone else..

yes this is true... they played barthezz on Z103 too but never made it passed that really... Z103 is wierd like that, They really DO play stuff none of the other mainstream stations do and really... it stay that way for the most part... once it dies there.... it pretty much stays off the air... (im hoping this stays cause i would rather not have that track killed)

Think of "nu" being short for "nuskool", as in the opposite of "oldskool". Better? :)

Doesn't this violate the golden rule of the party scene that everything was necessarily better, 'back in the day'?
