Does anyone here grinddddd their teeth during sleep? (as much as me?) Ive been told by more than one person I do it and finally its gotten to the point where I got to get a mouthguard. I looked around but could only find info on athletic moutguards. Anyone know about the dental kind (for sleeping?)

Thanks

You need to go to the dentist, and they'll have you fitted for one.

I had one years ago but never used it cause I couldn't sleep with it in.

Same here, it's very irritating to sleep with it on, mine hurt my teeth more than it helped it LOL, good luck

My dentist said I should get a normal one for now, just to see if I can sleep with it. If I go to the dentist to get a special kind, it'll be way expensive (especially if I end up like janie and dont use it)

I'm sure your dentist will be able to tell you where to get the try-out one if you give them a call then.

I've never seen those things just hangin out at drugstores or anything.

Well my Mom had to get one and she had to go to an orthodontist. I am supposed to get one as well, and have to go to an orthodontist. It depends on the extent of the problems that are stemming from the grinding.

Just a heads-up a custom mouth night guard is around $200, whereas something similar at most drug stores carry it for around $30.

If the drugstore ones work get that.
I have sleep apnea and had to get a special self adjustable oral appliance I wear while I sleep to keep my airway open. It cost me $1500. Tomorrow I go for my sleep study results to find out if its working(which I hope it is), and if I need a CPAP machine instead.
In other words $1500 spent for nothing, that wasn't covered by my insurance.

if you look at the ones at shoppers or even the athletic ones, there should be a type that you can buy and do a "somewhat" custom mold by dropping it in boiling water for a time, and then putting it in your mouth and forming it.

i used a similar type when i played football, and once i gave it the "heat" it formed to my mouth perfectly.

my mom has one of those machines, I feel bad for anyone that has to wear that to bed, its like a jet pilot mask.

richard has one and he got it from his dentist, it's not much of a gage to see if you can sleep with a mouthguard that isn't made for your mouth, it's more than likley going to be uncomfortable.... get a custom one from your dentist and it'll be fine... :)

I have one- you have to go in and have a cast made for you by your dentist. they mold your teeth and then make a night guard for your mouth. They run about 300 bucks or so.

You get used to sleeping with them really quickly and their much less obtrusive then athletic mouthguards.
