Anyone planning on attending?... I'm thinking about it

http://www.electronicmusicfest.com

for whomever attended last year, I dont think the free event is enough to get me there.. is there any 'massive' techno parties going on at the same time?, if so where can I get more info?

I soooo want to go this year, having planned on going both years and it never materialising.

The talent is disgusting. Who booked the Black Eyed Peas, though? :p

GEORGE CLINTON!!! Fucking right!

If anyone going to Motown for this has room in a car and a hotel room they want to share, lemme know. I'm so into this.

Re: Dave Clark

You know there is actually a dj from Chicago (i think), who spells his name that way. It's prolly not (as @m. calls him) God.

Who knows, i could be mistaken.

:p

Yeah, that's the thing, I need some infos about what's going on, since I'm obviously not from Detroit =)

and damn, how does a lineup change soo quickly!?

It might be a shame, but I'm not too familar with the most lineup.. is it pretty much all detroit style techno?.. or is it padded with other stuff?

BTW what's up with having a picture of Derrick May on the talent page, yet his name is nowhere to be seen.

BBB.

Bullshit, no Derrick May, no Kevin Saunderson, no Carl Craig at a festival that celebrates music grown out of and influenced by Detroit.

surprised to see that Ritchie Hawtin, John Acquaviva aren't there either..

looking forward for other DEMF parties info before confirming.. because I dont think 3 day festival tooo.

so does anyone know a site about the Detroit scene at all?

+ I don't know people ever see this... but have you ever heard of CEDEARPOINT.. this MASSIVE amusement park located 2 hours from Detroit... I sooo wanna reach that.. ( they were like a special on it on TLC at one point)

They've already played. They are playing a big part in organizing the fest this year. As for Hawtin and Acquaviva, Richie has played and John is usually too busy AFAIK. There will prolly be a killer m_nus party anyways, so its worth going.

am I nuts for what? Not wanting to see Derrick and Kevin bang it out on the big stage.. meh. They played really well the first year, but I've seen them play much better at many many other nights.

Derrick and Kevin are two of my favourite dj's, they've blown me away time and time again, but they already have the big stage wherever they go. Why not give the spotlight to someone less fortunate, let them shine for once. Inbreeding techno [by only putting big names on the big stage] will only bring it down, we need more stars who shine bright to light up the sky for the rest of the world to see [cheesy metaphor but what the hell, I'm studyiung and its saturday].

FYI some may think I am nuts  <- comp sci major with a minor in stats. Everyone is sane in their own reality.

Who gives a fuck about Atkins,Saunderson,Angel,Shadow or whatever weak ass dj you want or don't want to see play at DEMF? I can't believe in this "so-called" techno forum not one of you bothered to mention the fact that STEVE "MUTHAFUCKIN'" RACHMAD is on the bill,he alone is worth the gas, food, lodging expenses...for shame, for shame...

YES!
steve rachmad, the advent and stewart walker are my main draws.
steve has produced numerous great tracks, and his latest mix cd is spot on.

Dj Shadow

I for one wouldn't mind seeing this man spin.

Sure its not exactly techno related but it is nice and chilled out to listen to.

I'm trying to make it either way, because I missed the last 2 due to working the last 2 summers.

Did you check the lineup lately...

They're not playing anymore.

It's a shame i've always enjoyed the Hip Hop artists they've had at both previous DEMF's. Last year it was De La Soul, and the first one had Slum Village and Mos Def!
