Holy shyte that's an even sicker lineup than last year! And last year was off the chain. Dj SHADOW!!!!!!!! Dayum. Roni Size, X-men, gonna reach for sure. Can't go wrong with free parties.
I hope they all show cuz last year, LTJ Bukem, Farina etc.. were all no shows (i think cuz of the politics).
Sa wheat.
Can you say road trip? I can.

No Roni Size, No DJ Shadow = No Dr. Grinch

Nothing else there really floats my boat enough to drive to Detroit.

Plus it's SOOO hard to dance in a bullet proof vest..

Actually when i went there last year, there were no incidents or altercations of any kind. And there were a shyteload of people there. There was actually a really friendly atmosphere and all walks of life, and enough families with their little 'uns so. It's also free lets not forget.
However, i did venture downtown a bit with my friend, and we went into the most ghetto convenient store evar. People outside offering all the drugs under the sun, and like the chained off electronics section in the back etc... straight outta thos gangsta movies, Bookah!

I got lost on my way to the hotel last year and ended up in a ghetto. There was nothing but abandoned buildings, razor wire, and those wack convenience stores with signs that advertise "Pizza, Liquor and Knives." I was shocked to see such living conditions in the richest country on earth. Holy skewed income distribution! And the racial segregation was really sad. Compared to that neighbourhood, the worst areas in Toronto are paradise.

Looks like the politics are blowing over to this year. That lineup (updated one) is fuck'en weak considering its DEMF.

Does it bug anyone else that on the website they label Detroit as "the city of origin" of the "world's most popular new music", "electronic music"?!?!?

All Detroit originated was a form of techno (a really gooood form, but still just a form). Chicago and NYC originated house variations, from Europe and the UK came trance, garage, etc...

false advertising bastards!

^^^

ah, hell, i don't know. it just kinda bugged me.

but...

Europe, and the UK, wouldn't even HAVE trance. garage, etc. without that early Detroit techno. (The same techno which borrowed from European non-dance groups like Kraftwerk). Soo oo it goes both ways ya see, with each step being necessary... :)

Aimée, I'll see you there. :)

Everyone should just chill about the Detroit comments. There's nothing unsafe about going to DEMF.

Peace,

Sabina
