Deleting the entire history in icq?

Is there a way to do this?
I've used icq numerous times from work to communicate about questionable topics, and I can't find a simple way to delete the entire history. Is there a file that I can simply delete that has all of the message history? I don't want to have to go through my list person by person to do this.

My paranoia was fueled today when I found out that a coworker was fired for hacking into the HR system. He's a total knob for doing that, but they found out because they were checking the software on his computer when he wasn't here.

Oh, and I would check the online help, but I can't seem to connect to icq at the moment.

The quickest way to do it is just to uninstall ICQ, delete the installation directory and reinstall.

hey pete, i had icq at my old job about 3 years ago and one of the nice girls in our IT department gave me a friendly warning to delete it before one of the other pocket-protectors detected it.

i've heard of people getting fired for discussing "questionable topics" and some just for having it on their computers.

i've considered gettin rid of icq at work too.. lot of firings recently for having crap on systems.... i should definately clear my history at the very least..

maybe i'll just run msn (which i can run cause i support it) ... instead of both:)

I don't want to uninstall and reinstall it because I had enough problems getting it going the first time. It only works about 80% of the time and it took me several tries to even get it running the first time.
I only kept persevering upon hearing tales of other employees connecting.

I don't think that I'm at any risk of getting fired for simply having it on my PC. I'm too valuable to my department and there's no strict rules directly preventing me from using it. But a lot of stuff that I've discussed has been questionable, of course on the assumption that I could easily delete the history if needed.

Maybe I'll be stuck uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Pete, you can disable logging messages to the history altogether by going into Preferences --> Events --> General, and then checking the box that says "Do not log event history". To delete the existing history, in old versions of ICQ you could go into a central message history and delete the whole history file, but in newer versions (2000, 2001?) you may have to delete it manually on each user by right-clicking the user, going to history, and deleting all events.

Hope this helps.

Click on history for whoever and then click onthe first msg.
Go to Edit Select All and then go to edit and select delete.

I'm using port 21 for ICQ and AIM to connect from work. As far as the firewall logs go, I'm the reigning ftp king of the company. :D

How do you delete the history from JUST your BROSWER........is there a way to do it ALL AT ONCE as opposed to each site?

Obviously, I am NOT that computer literate!
