Yeah I wasn't impressed with security there which was a must from the club owners, which we had to pay for as well, but every venue has their rules. I know security were pretty mean...sorry about that.
i have no complaints about the brief encouter with security i had.. they were polite.. one guy was joking around a bit and asked me to hold his cigarette.. i said i don't smoke so he put it on a ledge and it fell into the trash and everyone sorta chuckled at him.. but they guys inside have been known to be a bit shady, i know that much..
Thanks for trying to get people out there for us. You feel like an ass...well we feel 1000 times worse and are waiting for somekind of justified reason from Dino, but still have not gotten one. We have contacted Atomic (the label) as well and they haven't heard from Dino either... We are embaressed as hell. We are planning something to make it up. Subscribe to our email list and we will update you... sorry and thank you.
s'all good mang.. shit happens. bring in some quality acts and i'll get people to come out for sure...
One point I would like to make is that we are not in "competition" with BLA. They throw very cool parties and of course the music is Psy as well, but I believe that the scene is still small and growing between BLA and DSF we have a good thing going!! In fact I thought their decor with the space that had on Friday rocked, and I loved the music there as well!! If we support all Psy events in Toronto..we will have the reputation in Toronto as the place to be.. and from there we can see bigger Djs etc...that's what it's all about!! We have to be communal!
i must say that is an admirable philosophy on the topic... now i'm just hoping that as the small psy scene grows a little we start to see other forms of psychedelia represented... BLA certainly has the tech-trance angle covered, and it seems like you guys are into the same thing... but what about the melodic styles, or the old school, or the breaky kind? i'm just hoping for the day where i can go to a goa party and here a wide variety of great music.. heavy night-time music ranging from the scandosounds to the massive tim schuldt style steamrollers, and melodic morning music for the early hours.. and maybe some psychedelic breakbeats to get things started up! if there's one thing i've had a problem with when it comes to toronto psy parties is that its just minimal tech all night long.. it's not my bag but people like it, so that's all good.. but normally i find myself wanting a change after a couple hours. just some thoughts.
good luck on your next one..
