Deep Dish (Sharam) - Montreal Edition

No one from Montreal made out to this? I went up to visit some friends and Sharam of Deep Dish just happened to be in town.

This event was held at Stereo...I got there at 2am (that's when the doors open), and waited in line for about an hour in the cold (everything you hear about how cold Montreal is is true! Montreal is freeeezing!). Although I didn't enjoy waiting in line, once I was inside the night went pretty smoothly.

The night started off with DJ MV on the decks. Not sure exactly who he is, but he was ok, nothing special though. MV spun some tribal-ey, progressive stuff for about 2 hours and that is when Sharam came on. I have to say Deep Dish wasn't as good as they were when they played at Kool Haus last week. Maybe it was because Ali wasn't there? I don't know. Didn't recognize any 'surprise' big tunes like Spin Spin Sugar, Another One Bites the Dust, etc, this night as they usually incorporate into their sets. Sharam played a harder, more build-ups set than the one at kool haus. He was good nonetheless. I just prefer their sets the last two times they were in Toronto.

Although the music wasn't 10/10 the crowd and the club more than made up for it. This was my first time at Stereo and I must say their sound system is AWESOME. Everything that you hear about it is true. The music comes out much louder and stronger than any sound system you've experienced, but at the same time when you're having a conversation right in front of it you can hear what the person is saying perfectly.

As for the crowd, all I have to say is Montrealers know how to party. Friendly vibes, constant cheering, and they party hard. I left at 10:30am and the club was still going strong.

I definitely would go back to this club.

It was a great night for all of those in attendance...

Stereo will be the place to be in 2002

Sharam was majorly hyped about spinning @ Stereo for the first time and wasn't about to make an ass out of himself by playing anything too commercial(other than rapture of course). I thought that he played the crowd very well that night, and am happy that he stuck to the deeper less commercial sound...

It's actually a separate entrance. It's on the right when you're outside the club. The sound is the little brother to what goes on upstairs.

Downstairs = Stereo Bar 23:00-03:00
Upstairs = Club Stereo 02:00-afternoon

You get reduced cover upstairs when you start downstairs.

Ok I saw those doors. They gave me free passes I guess they're for the bar not the club.

But is there cover to start off downstairs?
