i almost got swallowed by a couch after too much dinner and a rather weed heavy shisha pipe and balderdash session, but thankfully came to just in time to make it and almost not get in cause of no more tickets and so on.
deadbeat's dubby-ness was loud, bassy and fitting given my stoned self when i finally walked in to the near pitch black space and couldn't see two inches in front of myself heh heh... i love it when its dark though... thanks to sandra for grabbing me or i'd have walked into a pole or something... everyone looked hot though. i could feel it.
there were definitely grimey moments (yeah, definitely slower tempos, grimey basslines and plenty of efx added) that worked well with and between the more upbeat minimal stuff he was mixing along with some reverb and delay effects... and gave a bit of pace... at times it was a touch disorienting, but i like that especially in the dark environment and given my weedy headspace etc... as far as dancing i think the 4/4 stuff still moves my feet the most, but the less structured stuff and the thick bass does wonders for the head. he closed with some rootsy reggae stuff which got a cheer and then some (i thought it was task?, but my eyes were failing me in the dark) got on and it got more techy and 4/4 again... very good. i took off and shared a cab home with the tara at about 4 and all in all a very fun few hours out.
the sound was particularly good, very bassy and i liked the dark enivronment and dubby sound for a change... plus while fairly packed, there was a bit more room to move around and dance which was also nice. great night out! the usual salem's magic.
