Ok, let me start this off by saying I LOVED David Guetta and have seen him 10 to 20 times over the years...everywhere from NY to Miami to Ibiza and loved him ever time. This year was going to be even better with Chris Willis singing and Kelly Roland. But that was not to be, he was so out to lunch the entire crowd basically stood there going WTF all night long.
Let me tell you how this mess went down.
Guetta is like the only DJ me and the misses agree on, so this party was supposed to be the center point of our wmc experience, so when the tickets went on sale and they were $120 american I sucked it up and so did all my friends expecting a pretty good night. Much like what he delivered last year at the old crobar, camero. His WMC had quickly become THE party of WMC. We got there around 11 and the line up was ENORMOUS. Fortunately we were with some people who had pull and were able to get in quickly.
The opening DJ was playing really hard, like REALLY hard which seemed odd to us for a opening DJ considering Guetta was due up any min.
12pm passes...no Laidback luke..no guetta...
1pm passes...no Laidback luke..no guetta...
remember the club is only open to 5 and the opening dj has not come on!
1:30 guetta enter the booth and announced his friend Will I am of the black eyed peas is here and wants to spin...
oh boy..for the next 45 min the WORST miss mash of hip hop house you have ever heard KILLED whatever vibe there was in the room.
then Laidback like came on and was even worse. and I like this guy but talk about HARD with no rhythm.
at 3am guetta comes on, ok we have 2 hours he will save the night and then he started POUDING away. Now don't get me wrong I LOVE hard tunes, geez I was a big picotto fan back in the day. But this was not good hard, it was BAD pots and pans banging together with no rhythm hard. BAD BANGING ELECTRO, not a good mix. I guess if you were new to guetta and weren't expecting a Guetta show you could have found something to enjoy, but if you wanted the rhythm, the hands in the air singing along Guetta...FORGET ABOUT IT. anway for those of you checking him out this weekend, be prepared.
grrrr.....
